Meet Mark Burke

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Burke.

Hi Mark, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I grew up in Stuart Florida, it was and still is a small town. I played the circuit around South Florida for a few years, tried to play as many places that I could and that would let me, from dive bars all the way to the Outback Steakhouse patio. I made the move to Nashville in 2012 and I’ve loved it ever since. Nashville has been great to me and I have thankfully made a living writing and playing music.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think there’re always ups and downs, I spent the first two years just trying to survive, make rent and get my life established up here. I think as long as you’re true to yourself and you know what you want out of life, you can kinda smooth out your own road. I’ve been very grateful to find friends that have become family and that’s has made Nashville feel more like home than ever.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a country music artist, I write my own music, and have been able to travel the country performing it. Being able to tell my story through music, in a way that other people can relate to something I’m very proud of. Music is an outlet for so many people, so when people choose to listen to your music, it’s very humbling.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Everyone has their own idea of success whether that’s a number one song or just a song on the radio, or to play a certain venue. I think work ethic is the most important to achieving that. No one is going to hold your hand through the music industry, you’ve got to want it and have the drive to get after it every single day.
