Inspiring Conversations with Andrea Moskal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Moskal.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My family and I fell in love with Tennessee the moment we moved here from Florida 11 years ago! My husband accepted a job offer in residential construction, a field he has been in for all of the 26 years we have been married. Tennessee has become our home, sweet home! Three years after moving here, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and I became her full-time caregiver. My husband and I built a house designed with the unique needs of her in mind. It was important to accommodate and include her in our multigenerational home. After her passing in 2019, I decided that I wanted to get my real estate license. I was already familiar with home construction because of my husband’s career, and now with the experience of caring for my mother, I knew that I wanted to help other families that were going through the process of finding a home to support multigenerational living. That desire will always be the heart of why I do what I do, no matter how much I grow as a real estate agent.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Anything worth having will come with a few challenges! Initially, I struggled with putting myself out there as an agent. I had just spent the past six years exclusively in my home as a caregiver. Working outside of my house and reaching out to others took an adjustment, especially during the start of our COVID pandemic. I knew that I had something special to offer and enjoy helping others. I had previously worked as a pediatric dental assistant. I put a lot of focus into making a dental visit comfortable for scared children by calming them, being patient, and caring about their feelings. I wanted to bring that same amount of care to my clients. I had the heart for the job; as a new agent, however, I had to stand out! I started to think of ways to get to know others in my community and make my mark as an agent. I created a Facebook page to advertise local events and for small businesses to promote themselves. This page (“Where To Go” Middle Tn) has grown in such a short time and has become a place where local residents go to learn about new businesses or find community events.

I also knew that I needed to create a memorable brand. What better way to do that than with a flamingo? No one can easily forget a pink flamingo! I was inspired by their color for my open house signs and their stature for my business slogan, “Stand tall, Stand out, Stay balanced, Be unique”. I wanted to make my open houses fun, a break from the often stressful act of finding a home. I did this by creating a flamingo scavenger hunt. Prospective buyers search through the house for flamingos, take a photo with one, then post it and tag me on social media. That puts them in a drawing for a prize. People have so much fun looking, and it creates a welcoming environment at the open house.

Coming up with creative solutions for the challenges I faced has helped me immensely with my success. I want to help my clients to feel genuinely heard and appreciated, but I also want them to laugh, have fun, and feel at ease.

We’ve been impressed with your story, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Realtor with Realty One Group Music City. I specialize in helping families find the right home to accommodate their multigenerational living needs. I understand the difficulty in creating a welcoming and accessible home for elder family care, and I show families empathy and compassion through the whole process of searching, buying a home, or selling. I make it a point to always go the extra mile for my clients, always keeping their best interests and needs in mind with every home I show. Since starting in January of 2019, I have helped over 40 families with their buying, selling, or rental needs. I take great pride in keeping my brand fun, vibrant, and memorable with my pink flamingo symbolism and the business slogan; “Stand tall, Stand out, Stay balanced, Be unique.”🦩

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Interestingly enough, one of my fondest childhood memories was perhaps a foretelling of what the future held for me! As a child, my mom would take me with her to look at model homes and visit open houses in the area. We weren’t there to purchase a home, only to look. We enjoyed walking through each room, looking at the decorations, staging, and design, pointing out what we loved. These homes provided a great place to daydream, to see potential in the different spaces and all the possibilities of décor and furnishings. It was something special that she and I shared, and I am so grateful for that time we spent together.
