Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Carter.
Hi Sean, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Unchained Memories in May of 2020. I had the idea for a clothing brand for years but last year I knew it was time for me to bring my idea to life. Being that I have always had a passion for clothing I wanted to create a streetwear brand that was unlike any other. Aside from our comfortable clothing options, our brand focuses on people’s hopes and dreams. Our motto is “Not All Dreams Are Meant To Be Forgotten.” We like to encourage people that no matter what you want to do in life it can be done. Those who want to support you through it will and those who do not won’t and that’s okay. Your dream should not fade just because no one believes in you. As long as you think you can do it, go for it. A little over a year later my business has grown tremendously. I remember having one design and having it in one one-color t-shirt option. Today we have serval designs, in many colors, and various clothing pieces not just t-shirts.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, it’s been a very interesting yet wonderful experience from the time I started my business to now. I can recall times I had to resort to using someone else to bring my design to life. I had to take it upon myself to learn the necessary skills so that I could cut out the middle man. From researching great quality materials to figuring out actually how to produce my own designs while also making sure that the end result was exactly how I envisioned. I’ve spent countless hours researching the right clothing products because I’m a firm believer that if I personally can’t wear it, that my customers shouldn’t either. All of these challenges and struggles have made me into a better business owner. I pride myself in paying close attention to everything that I’m offering to my consumers to provide them with nothing short of an amazing experience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
When I’m not running my own business, I spend my time as a supervisor for Asurion in Nashville. I specialize in fixing phones for customers that have insurance through AT&T. Although, this what I do during the weekdays most weekends are spent running Unchained Memories. These two important things in my life are two very different entities both allow me to interact with some great people and provide excellent customer service which I am known for. I am most proud of Unchained Memories and how far I have come since I started.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be when my grandparents on my father’s side flew out from California to Tennessee to come pick me up and take me back with them for two weeks. The best part about it was instead of flying back they rented an RV and decided to go cross-country back to California so we could see the sites along the way. I remember seeing so much scenery and taking photos at the landmarks for keepsakes. It was truly a breathtaking experience that I can vision it like it was yesterday.
