Today we’d like to introduce you to Doneisha Wells.
Hi Doneisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am Doneisha La’Mareah Wells, a serial entrepreneur and creative. My entrepreneurial journey officially began in June of 2020, but the mindset was there at birth. My entire upbringing, I knew that I was not made to work for someone else. After having 19+ jobs, ranging from retail to human resources, I finally understood that jobs couldn’t offer me anything but knowledge, resources and networking. I then accepted that I would have to be self-sufficient because jobs were simply tools that would hurt or help me depending on how I played my cards.
As a serial entrepreneur and creative, I wear many hats. I am a professional instructor, 3-time business owner, personal assistant and liaison, freelance model, influencer and an artist. My businesses include Risqué Regards, Club of Queenz, and a Private Company.
Risque Regards is the brand where I teach others that their best feature is their confidence primarily through adult dance classes. With this business, the creative in me decided to unify and utilize the visual, applied and performing arts. I sell handcrafted accessories, offer general graphic design services and provide an activity in which I create, practice and demonstrate these arts, all while helping others build the confidence to do the same.
Club of Queenz is a women’s empowerment group where I create digital products that guide others on their entrepreneurial journey using my experience and what I’ve learned. This business offers monthly women networking events where I gather other women entrepreneurs who share their journey and tips & tools to help the next person along with annual celebrations and lock-ins. The mission is to show others that you don’t have to do it alone. We will learn, grow and celebrate as one.
The third business is a private company that will launch mid to end 2023. This native application will simply be a directory for a niche community. I’ve had these business ideas and dreams since I was about 17 and Covid forced my hand to make them a reality. After being laid off as an acquisition agent, I took the money I had saved, knowledge learned and confidence gained and just jumped off the porch to start them. As I was out in the world as a new full-time entrepreneur, I kept my intentions pure and the universe just brought the right people into my life. This let me know that I was aligned and killed any doubt I had, hence how I got to where I am today.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Well, with Covid changing the world as we know it, this journey has not been smooth. Although I’ve had many obstacles, I never expected it to be easy. Being a young African-American female who has three businesses I’ve learned to never take anything personal and to just stay positive and focused. I view adversity in a light as just playing the hand I was dealt versus having a victim mentality. I notice many can’t even fathom the thought of someone so young in my position.
I am constantly underestimated. I learned to use this to my advantage though and simply work my way to the top and build my empire while being overlooked. I ask questions from those who are further up the chain and apply the information as needed to my own journey. The hardest lesson I had to face was expecting others to have the same amount of ambition and excitement for my dreams as I did. I quickly learned that even if you’re looking at the same thing, people won’t see it like you. They won’t understand because everyone has different perspectives so they won’t comprehend and accept things the same. No one dream is the same, neither are people.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Others should know that I appreciate and am proud of everything I do because it is all from scratch and self-made. All of my brands are my life’s work and as I grow they scale. They should know my work ethic, passion, raw talent, and intentions set me apart from others and I really put my last and give my all to everything I do. The passion is evident.
Aside from being an entrepreneur, as a human and individual, I help others reach their full potential and become the best them that they can be in whatever they’re looking to achieve. I am my brand and all of my offerings are available to assist others. My current focus is to get my name out there and leave my mark by building and growing my community. You can see all about my endeavors at @Lamareah on Instagram and @Luh Lamareah on Facebook. My site is https://linktr.ee/Lamareah. My brand sites are risqueregards.net and clubofqueenz.com. As the assistant and an affiliate for the PSV store, most of my events are hosted there in Germantown on Taylor Street.
What does success mean to you?
I define success by means of happiness. My success is solely based on how happy I am. This includes my mental health, ability to reach my goals, and seeing that I am helping others do the same. When doing this, I truly feel accomplished and fulfilled, which in turn makes me happy and successful.
