Meet Lauren Poole of Sweet Truth Dental

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Poole.

Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I chose dentistry because it checked the boxes for my love for science and creativity/artistry. I also wanted to learn all-things-medicine but wasn’t interested in a career that would take over my life. Dentistry was the right balance for me.

I practiced traditional dentistry for 6+ years. But personally, I did a deep holistic health dive about 10 years ago for my digestive health. And It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my first son that I started to worry about the toxicity of traditional dentistry and what it might be doing to me, my baby, and my patients. So, about three years ago, I started seeking extra certifications to become knowledgeable about how I was treating and what I was recommending.

I knew if I wanted to practice dentistry this way, I’d have to do it on my own terms, that’s how Sweet Truth Dental was born. I still perform traditional dental services but I do it with the whole body in mind and I’m really proud of that because we all need both. Safer procedures, cleaner products, and solutions that treat the root cause… pun intended. Living in the space where holistic care meets medicine is a beautiful place to be and I am really hoping it is the direction that a lot of practitioners are taking soon.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not. Building a practice while pregnant with my second son during a pandemic was not how I pictured the beginning of this journey. But the road to a more holistic approach to dentistry was easy for me because I became so passionate about providing this type of dentistry. Being a part of a smaller group of biological dentists is something I’m really proud of and I love the opportunity to speak to my “traditional dental” colleagues about why I am doing things differently.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweet Truth Dental?
We opened in March 2021. We are a new dental studio in Brentwood, TN that’s detoxifying dental procedures, products, and experiences. We are a biological or holistic dental office specializing in comfortable, safe, and healthy dentistry. We offer general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, SMART safe amalgam removals, implant restorations, Invisalign aligners, and our product shelves have a lot of toxic-free dental products that we highly recommend.

What’s next?
After opening only six months ago, I’ve quickly realized that I’m offering a style of dentistry that a lot of Nashvillians have been searching for. I’m hoping to continue, to grow our Brentwood practice, and who knows… maybe even add more locations. We will see.
