Daily Inspiration: Meet Molly Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Reed.

Hi Molly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Pyroglyphics was formed by a group of five young, passionate women, enamored with fire dancing and eager to share our love of performance and create a career out of our passion. After coming together to create a featured act for Solasta festival, it was evident we were embarking on a journey that would take us beyond where any of us imagined.

As our interests grew beyond just fire dancing, our members began to pursue aerial arts as well as diving deep into exploring different styles of dance. We also became invested in producing and shooting video projects, which has allowed us to share our storytelling and show our ability to curate visions.

Each of us bring something different to the table, and outside of being performers, we have talented graphic designers, video editors, metal workers, and seamstresses on our team, which has all contributed greatly to our success.

Our collective grew to acquire more performers both in Nashville as well as Denver when one of our co-founders moved there in 2019. Today our collective has grown to have 9 members across Tennessee and Colorado!

We never could have foreseen the incredible opportunities that were ahead of us, and we’re so grateful to have the chance to share these experiences with our hometown of Nashville!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road the entire time, but our trials and tribulations have only made us stronger! I think one of our biggest struggles has been finding compassion and community in the entertainment industry. It is a cutthroat line of work, and it’s been challenging to carve our own path and find like-minded individuals. Though, after years of dedication, we are happy to have found a blossoming community to share our vision with.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Pyroglyphics is a professional collective of fully insured and multi-faceted performance artists specializing in fire prop manipulation, multiple styles of dance, aerial arts, and character performance. Our collective aims to present a story with performances that entrance audiences through dynamic movement, dangerous stunts, dramatic costuming, and powerful, yet elegant expression.

Beyond performance, we are experienced in producing large-scale music and concept videos. Our members are skilled in creative direction, costume design, makeup/hair artistry, set design, graphic design, etc.

We are most known for our large group acts which involve choreographed fire dancing as well as storytelling!

I believe what sets us apart is that we share a connection that is beyond business partnership. Being friends, we work very cohesively and understand each other on a level that is hard to find in a typical work environment.

I also believe that because we work as a unit to reach the same goal, we are able to accomplish so much more than if we worked as individuals. We strive for an uplifting environment and a sense of community. A quote I feel puts it perfectly is, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories would have to be from when I was about 10 or 11. My then best friend and I would create these ridiculous little videos of ourselves. We would act as if we were on set for a TV show or music video, spending hours getting all dolled up. We’d record ourselves dancing, acting out scenes, singing, or whatever else we could come up with. I think this is where my love of performance really began.
