Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley and Renee Hayes.
Hi Kelley and Renee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We are empty nesters and when Kelley’s job relocated us to the Atlanta, Georgia area three years ago we decided to try tiny living in our 2019 Keystone Raptor 421CK fifth wheel toy hauler. Originally the plan was for Kelley to live in the camper until we found a house. But we found a nice campground near his work and thought, why not. Let’s try it!!!
Here we are three years later!! Originally as full-timers, we were stationary in the RV park. Kelley had a normal 8 to 5 office job. The first year we only went on one trip with the camper to Asheville, North Carolina. Then covid hit and Kelley began working from home and since our “home” is on wheels, we began traveling across the country.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Kelley is handy so that helps!!! Things will break down and need repair just like a normal home. Also making sure we have a good internet connection is important. We use a Verizon hot spot and a Wineguard booster for connectivity.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Kelley has worked for General Motors for 32 years in various positions!! He will retire this winter. GM was his first and only career out of college. Renee handles all our social media, works for Vanguard Title Company, and is a Certified Independent Health Coach helping people lose weight and eat healthier.
Our jobs are remote and allow us to work and travel.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
It’s not luck, it’s faith. During Kelley’s 32 year career with General Motors, we were relocated many times. We always trusted in God’s plans and went when we were asked! Even today we pray for good health and safe travels!!!
We enjoy being able to travel the country to hike, bike, kayak, visit our family and friends. Life is short and it’s more important to see things than to have things.
