Meet Jasmine Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Brown.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, I’m Jasmine Brown. A mother of three and a lover of all things vintage. I’ve always said my soul prior to this life was an old, old one. Both my parents passed away when I was very young and it definitely forced me to grow up really quickly. I had my oldest when I was 20, and knew that being a mom was what I REALLY wanted to do. Being a stay at home mom is only part of the job though! I’ve had many small professions here and there. But a majority of my resume is childcare and bartending. They’re just about the same thing. Haha. I accidentally found my passion for refinishing furniture when I lost my bar gig in 2019 to COVID. I hope to have our pieces spread out throughout the world one day!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Going from a service industry to a more self made creative outlet is a definitely drastic career change! I’ve always struggled with finding ONE passion to build a career on. The older I get, the clearer it becomes to me that creating art and having the freedom to express your talents is so much more valuable than forcing myself into a job that I’m unhappy with.

Your mental health is very important. In anything you choose to do in life, don’t ever forget about your own well-being. Because it MATTERS. The universe can present you with exactly what you need when you least expect it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My fiancé Mason and I flip furniture for a living. We take old, antique future, and completely give them a whole new look. A furniture makeover! It’s very time consuming because we take pride in perfecting our work. We have even created our own mineral blend (that we’ll be releasing to the public soon!) that makes painting a hundred times easier. Not to mention, it creates a flawless finish. We hope to sell all things furniture on our online shop, and maybe even open up a physical location one day! We plan creating our own shades of paint, sealants and even hardware. A one stop shop for your DIY furniture needs! I’m so grateful to be using my skills to create art that will be cherished for a lifetime. It feels very fulfilling.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very loud outgoing child. Not much has changed! Haha. I’ve always seen myself to be a “free spirit” as commonly used as that is. When I watch home videos of little two-year-old-me dancing on top of a coffee table, it makes me smile because I’ve always been this way. I’ve always loved expressing myself through art. Photography, poetry, painting, writing. I attempted to write my first book when I was maybe 6 or 7 on a floppy disk. I guess I’ve just always loved and needed to express my feelings without having to actually say what my feelings are. This trait has stuck with me since childhood. I mean, we really are just big ol’ kids deep down, right?
