Check Out Alli Campbell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alli Campbell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography pretty much landed in my lap. My mom has always documented our family’s life & I have found so much appreciation in that as I have gotten older. Like many people, at the time I was uncomfortable being in front of the camera. I felt awkward & was never sure what to do with my hands. So, I always chose to be behind the camera. It was then I realized I LOVED making the people around me feel beautiful & documenting every part of our lives in a candid and fun way. In 2015 I got my degree in Commercial Photography at Appalachian State University (Go Neers!). This is where I fell in love with having a camera in my hands.

Following college, my husband and I move to Nashville, Tennessee. Where I dove right into photography while working at a restaurant on the side. Nashville has so many incredible photographers it felt a bit intimidating at first, but it was such an incredible industry to jump into.

After a year or two of working in a restaurant on the side I quit my job as a server and went full-time in the wedding industry. I now work seven days a week doing what I love and capture 25-30 weddings a year! I love getting the opportunity to work with couples through a special time of their life while encouraging other photographers to do the same.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think with every career path, you are going to have some obstacles. After college, my husband & I moved to Nashville, from Charlotte, North Carolina. Which was so exciting & we love this city. The biggest obstacle I faced was the transplant. As a photographer, most things are referral-based. We moved, knowing no one in the city, so I was starting from scratch. I was working at a restaurant, only dreaming of working full-time again as a Wedding Photographer. After a 1-2 years of a lot of free work & meeting as many people as possible, I finally started to build my client base here.

I travel a lot all over the US photographing couples as well. This can be a bit challenging, balancing work & home life. But when you do something, you love, it makes it very difficult to differentiate. That being said, obstacles just push you to grow, which only makes you & your business stronger.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer. But I like to say I am a photographer of people because that’s who I’m about. You & Your stories. What makes you tick. What makes you feel loved. What makes you known. I want my photographs to enable you to see far beyond yourself and allow you to look back and know exactly how you felt in that moment.

I am based in Nashville but travel all over the United States photographing you your families and the people that you love most. Engagement sessions are my jam! I love this season of life for you and your person. I like to think my sessions are different because I really want to show a little component of you throughout your session. It’s really easy to go to a pretty location, but I’d rather go somewhere that you love or you’ve experienced life together and document that with you.

Along with photographing you, your wedding day, families, and your brand. I spent a lot of time working with other photographers and growing their business as well. I’m working on a new project to teach photographers through content days. Where we get together and experience what it is like to build a portfolio with other photographers. I truly believe in community over competition and love working with other incredibly talented artist.

I am really proud of how I’ve grown over the past couple years in the Nashville scene, as well as in North Carolina!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
If you are a PHOTOGRAPHER, I would LOVE to hear from you. Building community in the Nashville area is one of my number one priorities. Whether it is for a content day, or just to grab coffee, let’s create together!

If you are a BUSINESS and are looking to reach people in a different way. I would love to photograph and tell who you are and what your business is about through images! Let’s chat!

If you are getting MARRIED! This is one of the most exciting seasons of life and let’s make it fun! Let’s find a time to make really incredible photos & let’s be friends!

If you are HUMAN! You don’t need an excuse to have a photoshoot. It’s Tuesday and I look really good… But there are so many things to celebrate your new job, your growing family, your newborn, you’re graduating, you’re getting married, it’s Christmas! Every season of life is a reason to celebrate.
