Rising Stars: Meet Travis Tidwell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Tidwell.

Hi Travis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I got my first professional music gig right after high school with Big Smo. We went on to play all over and had our own TV show on A&E for a couple of seasons. After I left the band, I got a gig with Ryan Upchurch and did more cool stuff with him, and eventually decided to go solo as an artist myself.

Since then, I e been fortunate enough to gain an official sponsor from Shelby American Inc. and even got my own TT Edition Shelby Super Snake car in Switzerland, which was featured in Mustang Driver Magazine. I have had a wonderful experience thus far and hope it continues!

I have been so blessed and done so many things that I couldn’t complain about even if I wanted to.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been without roadblocks and challenges of course. I’ve had many trials along the way that made me question my path at times. Thankfully, I kept going. The pandemic was a great roadblock in my launch. My album debut came out in the heart of the pandemic which I know has slowed me down some but I’m willing to trick along even slowly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional musician and I play guitar and sing and write songs. I have been known for my past work with other bigger-known artists such as Upchurch and Big Smo.

I’m most proud that my work has been featured in TV shows, praised by legendary artists whom I respect, had several songs I co-wrote charting up top. I think my lifelong dedication has really put me in a lane of discipline that I hope doesn’t go away!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are of when I lived next to Johnny Cashback in the day. I lived on a farm with a creek that ran along the front yard and had all the space I could ever need to run around and have a beautiful childhood.
