Daily Inspiration: Meet Jerome Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerome Hill.

Hi Jerome, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My DJ career started when we had a block party at my dad’s church back in 2011, and I had an enormous catalog of Christian hip hop songs, so I volunteered to play the music. Little did I know that night I went home and said this is something that I want to do as a hobby, and here I am now

I came up with the name DJ Rome which comes from a portion of my government name Jerome. Well, I actually called myself DJ Romey Rome, and the name was too long, and looking back, I’m not a big fan of the name (people love it). I also had a logo that I was looking to get done. Shout out to Robbie Hall for creating my logo and a DJ drop shout out to my guy DJ Rek for doing that as well. The name was too long for both of those, in my opinion.

I’ve been djing ten years off and on. I had got married, and I pretty much quit, but once that ended, I asked myself why did I stop DJing. DJing is what I am good at, so after praying and talking with a few friends, I picked it back up, and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road because I did it off and on. Also at times, I wanted to quit because I didn’t feel like I was getting that many opportunities, and I used to hate carrying my speakers up and down my stairs lol.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a DJ who specializes primarily in Christian music. I am known for DJing. I am proud of the fact that I am impacting people’s lives with my career and my ability to DJ.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Prayer has been one of the most essential characteristics of my djing career. Praying has helped to maintain my relationship with Jesus. From that relationship, I find peace, and I am reminded of the character that I need to have when interacting with people.

Professionalism has also helped me because although I am talented, I still need to operate with excellence throughout my career.
