Community Highlights: Meet Keandrea Taylor of EnPointe Performance Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keandrea Taylor.

Hi Keandrea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
At the age of 14 years, I started coaching area youth the sport of baton twirling in Clarksville, Tn. While working at many studios and gymnastics gyms throughout my college career, my passion grew more and more with working with kids. I never looked at coaching as a “job” but rather a blessing and opportunity to be able to pour into kids… not just for training them within a sport but also providing tools they can use throughout life. After graduating from Lipscomb University with my Master’s of Science, I began teaching dance classes at a community center in Nashville. After a 1 year, I began teaching at an additional community center in the Antioch area. I saw so much potential in the dancers, I then knew we were ready to start a competition team. Due to the limited community center hours, I knew we would eventually need a space with flexibility. Much prayers and a leap of faith lead us to seeking our own studio building.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve had many bumps in the road. From the personal financial strain felt of not wanting to deny any child of his/her dreams, to finding affordable building leases, to the unknown foreseen journey of “COVID”, we’ve had our share of obstacles. However, we never lost sight of our vision.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about EnPointe Performance Studio?
We are a dance studio offering recreation and competitive training. Not only do we train in the sport of dance, we offer a program called “The aKademy” that prepares are students for the “real world”… having professionals/educators come in teaching them how to sew, cook, act, interview, financial literacy, plant flowers, and so much more. Our motto has always been ” it’s more than dance” We want to inspire our students that hard work, commitment, and dedication is key to success!

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I also work in the healthcare industry.
