Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Ruiz.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I became a mother in 2020, I began posting consistently to my Instagram, and as a result, came growth. I quickly fell into the role of a motherhood influencer and had a steady flow of brands reaching out to promote their products. Creating content for these brands fueled my creative fire and it just felt so natural to me. I invested in professional gear and a photography education which allowed me to make the pivot from influencer to content creator.
In August of 2021, I started Sierra Ruiz Photos and began offering my professional services which include personal branding, commercial and product photography. I truly owe it all to motherhood!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! My husband is military and was deployed overseas during the beginning of my journey to becoming a photographer. Being solely responsible for a young infant and a home all while learning an art and creating a business plan was overwhelming more often than not.
Another huge obstacle was finding my own editing style. I absolutely love warm photos with a film look but no matter how hard I tried I just didn’t like it on my photos. I finally accepted that I am drawn to whites with a bright, timeless edit. For now anyways!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a brand photographer! I’m quite niched down and only offer personal branding, commercial, and product photography. My purpose is to tell a brand or entrepreneur’s story through visual imagery. I also offer content creation packages for creatives including bloggers and influencers.
