Meet Adam Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Wright.  

Hi Adam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today? 
I started in 2012, as a graphic design freelancer looking for work out of college in Los Angeles. I soon picked up my first ongoing client, and absolutely loved the freedom and satisfaction of having my own freelance business. Things slowly picked up, gaining more clients, and evolved into becoming more of an expert in website design and development. My focus was delivering great work and taking care of my clients — which helped me land a lot of referral work. Fast forward to today, I’m living in Mount Juliet, TN, and I have worked with dozens of clients all across the country.  

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road? 
Absolutely not. Nobody teaches you how to run a business on your own — you wear 10 different hats, every day. You manage your marketing, accounting, invoicing, emails, client relationships, and more, all while doing the actual work. It’s a constant with improving your craft, your processes, and delivering the best work you can while helping businesses grow. In the life of a solopreneur, there is always room for growth and improvement, and if you’re not growing — someone else is.  

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work? 
I specialize in creating solutions through Website & Graphic Design. I am unlike many designers in that I know how to also write code, which allows me to approach website projects from both angles and bring just about any layout or design to life on the web. When it comes to my aesthetic, I have a love for white space, modern design, and colors that communicate. Finding and creating solutions that solve problems for my clients, and in turn making them happy, is continued motivation to keep doing what I enjoy. When you love and care about what you do, and always put in 110%, you’ll find that people will respond and your business will thrive.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success? 
Motivation, dedication, and accountability. These by far are the 3 biggest factors I feel are most important not just in my journey, but for anyone looking to start their own business. You’ve got to be able to self-motivate and hold yourself accountable, because nobody is going to be telling you to get out of bed and get to work. Nobody is going to be handing you clients, or telling you what to do that day. You are your own boss — so you set the tone for yourself. You’ve got to work hard, stick with it, and never give up.
