Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniella Duran.
Hi Daniella, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My husband (Osbert) and I (Daniella) always dreamt of starting our own company one day. When we moved to Nashville, we were looking to furnish our new home. We were looking for a modern farmhouse dining table to fit our space. Store after store, it was hard to find something affordable and made of real wood.
With a little help from YouTube and patience, we decided to build our own table in our garage and learned so much that we even built our nightstands and our office desk! What started as a hobby, turned into a love for the craft, then blossomed into our company, Duran Woodworking.
With every client we take, we are truly humbled by the process, beginning to end. We make sure our clients are heard and make their custom pieces come to life. We only use hand-picked materials and finishes in every project and do everything to use local resources here in Nashville as much as possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, more like driving through mountains, learning how to build a business, curve by curve. This is the first business we started and we learned so much about marketing, building a brand, sourcing products, and even how to make furniture pieces.
We are not woodworkers by trade (ex-corporate finance and HR employees) so every day we learn something new!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Here at Duran Woodworking, we make quality handmade custom furniture, perfect for your home, office, or outdoor area. Each piece is truly one-of-a-kind. We don’t just see this as a job, but as a passion, and we’re grateful to create works of art from our clients’ beautiful ideas.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We’ve noticed that many people love supporting small businesses and we take pride in that. Our clients want quality, affordable handmade furniture that’s custom to fit their homes. These are items you can’t find in a department store and with Nashville attracting people from big cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, many of our clients are in search of custom pieces.
