Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheka Benford.
Hi Sheka, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began an interest in Videography as a young kid. I always had some type of digital camera at all times, whether a real camera or toy camera. Once cellphone cameras were created, I would film their music videos & vlog-type videos from my camera phone, and edit them with the movie software on windows. For years videography was simply a hobby, but in around 2017/2018 I decided to begin taking it seriously as a business. Starting off I only filmed for family and friends who would book me as I perfected my craft. Over the next year, I slowly upgraded my software, equipment, and skills.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I struggled with creating my own individual stamp in this overcrowded local industry. I had to create my own look and style of video to stand out from others. My videos now have a cinematic movie look.
I also struggled with trying to juggle my 9 to 5 with my business as well. For several years, I worked 16-to-18-hour days going from my job with a local insurance company (Supervisor) to getting off the clock and going straight to events or editing. April 2021, I quit my job in the midst of the pandemic and began Videography full time. It’s definitely a current challenge now for me now still as I try to create consistency and vamp my company continuously.

I specialize in Film, and I’m known mostly for Weddings & Events in Cinematic Style. I love capturing emotion & memorable moments amongst family. I’m most proud of the fact that I can do a two-person job on my own. Also, I have been booked for over 20 Celebrity Event’s, Concerts, and Behind the Scenes.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mom is my biggest supporter. She roots me on publicly & privately and shares all of my posts & content. I have the best family & friends as well, which is where I get most of my referrals from.
