Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Thompson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Victorious Apothecary because I suffered from severe dermatological issues. After going to several dermatologists and being prescribed countless ineffective medications I started looking into alternative medicine for answers. I started researching herbs and quickly started formulating organic recipes. People started asking me what I was doing to improve my skin and hair and I told them I made my own cosmetic, health, and wellness products.
I started making products in 2017 and I officially launched Victorious Apothecary PLLC to the world January 1, 2021. It was when people started inquiring to buy the products that I was making that I made it an official business venture.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all!
I originally launched a business by the name of Ka’Tori Kashmere with a college friend of mine back in July 2018. We both graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. I graduated MTSU in May 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mass Communications.
We stayed friends and started working together in Nashville, TN in May 2017. While at work one day I told my friend of my dream of starting my own business, which had been a goal of mine since I was 7 years old. I told her I would love to make organic beauty products. She told me that if I was serious, she would like to join me and be my business partner. This action made me confident enough that I could actually create a business; especially since I had help and I wouldn’t be in it alone.
Unfortunately, in 2019 after my business partner backed out for reasons that I will not mention. This was a devastating blow to me financially seeing that our business Ka’Tori Kashmere was under my business partners’ name and not mine. I had put the majority of the money upfront for the business. Legally I could not proceed with the business because according to the IRS and the State of Tennessee paperwork I was not a rightful owner/partner.
I had to start completely over. I had poured so much time and money into everything, but couldn’t proceed with any of it for fear of infringement- but it was all my creations from the start, but not on the paperwork. I had to reinvent myself and my approach.
It took a year and a half to do everything on my own this time, which was the official launch of Victorious Apothecary PLLC on January 1, 2021. It has been an amazing first year of business and I am grateful for all my friends, supporters, and customers.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently employed as a CPhT-Adv (Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician). I am also currently in nursing school.
I specialize in helping people. I am a naturally caring and loving individual. I genuinely love helping people. I do believe that I possess the gift a healing and I am meant to help, aid, and care for individuals physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my kind heart. I have a very precious soul and I am a very genuine person. It’s hard to find anything real nowadays, but I pride myself on being a vessel of love and positive energy.
I am most proud of being a first-generation college student and college graduate and being a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, actually.
I believe in life experiences and lessons. I believe everything happens in divine timing.
I’m a firm believer in fate and destiny. Any “lucky breaks” that I do get I give all the credit and glory to God.
I believe in God’s favor, love, grace, and mercy. Not in luck.
My journey has been hard, but I know that God put it in my heart to do this business and anything worth having doesn’t come easy.
