Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Hagen.
Hi Steve, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve coached football for a living for the past 38 years in the NFL, the XFL, and Power Five Division I. I’ve coached at Notre Dame, Cal, North Carolina, and in the NFL at the Cleveland Browns and the NY Jets. I have taken my years of experience on the field and crossed over to personally train CEOs and Executive Leadership Teams to transform themselves and their managers into true leaders that understand why Winning is Never Accidental!
I’m equipped with the tools, resources, and experience that executive teams need to improve their productivity, performance, and profitability. I am also a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Trainer, and Speaker, and I offer Master Mind workshops, seminars, keynote speaking, and coaching on leadership and communication.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road, more like a fun, adventurous road with lots of turns and twists, The coaching is natural and very easy for me, but all the marketing and social media game is a whole other ball game. I have been challenged with things that I’ve never had to do before with building a website, developing social media, and marketing my business. It’s been challenging and a lot of fun! I have learned a ton. I have 4 kids ages 26,24,22 and 17 so I get a lot of help and ideas from them. My oldest son is a travel photographer and my daughter is an online fitness coach and they both have started their own businesses and are doing well, so they have been very helpful!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I know what sets me apart in this new career of executive coaching is my real-life day in and day out development of professional athletes (football players) and teams that have to perform at their highest level every day or they will get cut and lose their job. There is very little margin for error when it comes to professional athletes and sports. It’s a very high-profile, high-pressure job that very few can do. I use sports analogies to get my points across about Winning is Never Accidental and everything matters so how you do something is how you should do everything.
I’ve also written a couple books, “Coach ‘Em Up” and “Another Rep”
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’ve been married for 30 years; we have 4 beautiful adult children. We live in Franklin, Tn. I travel everywhere to coach up businesses and help them define and refine their winning culture, and teaching leadership skills. People win, not products. I was raised in Southern California and have lived everywhere in America. I just returned home from coaching American football in Italy. I’ve also coached in Germany. Everybody needs a coach. I volunteer teach/lead at the Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry
