Daily Inspiration: Meet Cashield Freeman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cashield Freeman.

Hi Cashield, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved all things beauty, hair, makeup, skincare, etc, and my love for it grew into a passion when I took a part-time job in cosmetics about 4 years ago. Since I was working in cosmetics, I had to look the part, full makeup, hair nice & neat, etc. I feel like I was able to do my makeup effortlessly however, my look wasn’t complete without lashes. I fought with lash strips on a daily and finally decided to get lash extensions to make my routine a little more easier. I had heard so much negative things about lashes and how they were not healthy for your natural lashes but I took a chance anyway. I was getting my lashes done for several months and after each appointment, I remember feeling so beautiful and I loved that even on the days when I didn’t wear makeup I still felt “put together.” The artist who was doing my lashes was an educator and a master cosmetologist so one day after several months of seeing her I asked could you help train and certify me in lash extensions, she said “I thought you would never ask.” I’ve been lashing since then! I wanted other women to feel as confident as I did after I get my lashes done.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say my journey has been an adventurous one lol. I’ve had to learn a lot during my short time in business, most days have been pretty easy however, there have been some tough days too. When I first started my business, I struggled with holding people accountable regarding my policies. You know typically if a customer or client has a concern or a problem, they ask for manager and as an employee you go get the manager to address the situation. As the business owner, you’re the manager, artist, etc. I’ve learned to extend grace but also hold clients and myself accountable for my policies. I’ve experienced some pushback, however, for the most part, my clientele understands and respect me, my policy, and time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My business Phoenix Artistry by Cashield Norshay we specialize in brows, lash extensions & permanent make-up. Currently, my favorite services would be the permanent make-up which is Lip Blush & Lip Neutralization. This service eliminates the need for lipstick and or lip liner and last 2-3 years. I love seeing the transformation and how blown away my clients are when seeing their finished results. After completing Esthetician’s school I’ll be adding facials, waxing, and a few other services to my menu, I’m really excited for that.

I believe what sets me apart is my compassion for others and I’m very personable. I feel like I can relate to all women from all walks of life. I’ve had clients tell me they feel like they’ve had a little therapy session at the end of their appointments. It makes me so happy that I’ve created a comfortable & safe place for my clients to come in relax and talk about whatever is occurring in their personal life.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would definitely say I’m a risk-taker lol. Although I’ve been lashing and in business, for a while it was always part-time due to my full time in the corporate world at a Biology Technology Institute. At the end of 2020, I gave myself a date/deadline of when I would depart my corporate position and focus on my business full time. This past May 2021 I departed my position and focused on my business. The days and weeks leading up to May I thought of every reason to back out or delay my plan however, after many conversations with God and those closest to me I took my step out on faith. It’s been one of the best & rewarding decision I’ve ever made.
