Today we’d like to introduce you to Cierra Hatten.
Hi Cierra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I am from Chattanooga, TN. I have been singing since I was 3 years old. I attended a performing arts school Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts. I majored in vocal music with electives such as piano and musical theatre. After graduating high school, I attended Middle Tennessee State University and I graduated in 2014 with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising.
My career started in retail management. I completed an internship with Nordstrom and started my path as a manager and also worked as a merchandiser for Birkenstock. While working in retail management I was approached with an opportunity which was property management and it was perfect timing because I needed a change! Since then I have developed a deep passion for property management and I am currently working on taking my career to the next level by adding real estate to my resume. Property management is an overwhelming and stressful industry at times but it is worth it and you experience a lot of rewarding moments. My stress reliever and therapy is music. I’ve always had a love for singing but was not ready to share my gift with the world until the pandemic. I shared my first video on Instagram in May of 2020 and received so much love and support.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve experienced a lot of challenges and obstacles. Being a black woman in corporate America as we know is an obstacle of its own. Being overworked, overlooked and underpaid is a daily struggle. My personal, work, and love life has been affected in so many ways but that’s a conversation for another day.
The worst moment I have experience, was life changing and I’ll never be the same. I unexpectedly lost my mother on December 23, 2020. It has definitely been a struggle but I have been able to make it through the process with God, family and friends. But I gave a compl different outlook on like now. Music has definitely been my saving grace and provides a sense of relief. My music is a soundtrack of my life. No matter the obstacles I keep going!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I manage a luxury apartment community in West Nashville as an assistant property manager. I have been in property management for 4 years now. I love helping people whether it’s a new home or a word of advice!
As far as my music I would love to start making music in a studio setting or collaborating with other artists whether it’s writing or arranging music this a new business venture that I am planning to start this year!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
My goal this year is to connect and network with more like minded and genuine individuals. I’m always looking for opportunities to collaborate with local creatives and professionals and hopefully by sharing my story my goal will be accomplished!
