Today we’d like to introduce you to Malik Louis.
Hi Malik, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Currently, I am living in Oakland, CA, and going to school full time. This brand is something I always wanted to begin. While I was on active duty, I always was trying to come up with the perfect brand name different designs, and what it meant to me. The name shifted several times before I arrived at the name Keeprs. We are just beginning our journey. So far it is as difficult as it seems. What really started it all was the poem I wrote for my brother.

You’re my solider
I’m the pusher
You’re the dreamer
I’m the force
You’re the brains
life separates us but when they ask
Yes, I’m my brother’s keeper
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road is something I can only dream of. I’ve definitely struggled a lot with my designs and the meaning behind them. The mean of Keeprs means a lot to me and my brother. We don’t want to just be another brand pushing half-thought ideas. We have many struggles in the process of this but we will not let that deter us from the goals we have set for ourselves.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I just separated from the United States Air Force. Currently enrolled in school pursuing a degree in Architecture. I love everything about design and how the process is done. I don’t really specialize in anything other than just being true to myself. To be completely honest I am not proud of anything. There is a lot I want to accomplish in my life and I have only just started. Time doesn’t stop for anyone so what I have to be proud of will be decided when my time ends. The thing that sets us apart from others is that we created our purpose in this world. I feel as if others only just found it. We surely aren’t the best around but, in a few years, we will be making some type of impact.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
There are things in this world that many in my generation aren’t exposed to. Things in life that you won’t learn with just school. Nothing is original in this world. Everything is a concept of a concept. That is what Keeprs is. We are a concept that hopes to change others to form a new concept.
