Life & Work with Lindsey Lomis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Lomis.

Hi Lindsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Thank you guys! I’ve grown up in Nashville, surrounded by live music since I was a kid. I fell in love with singing at a super young age, started playing guitar around 11, and then discovered songwriting as an outlet. I was lucky enough to have many incredible female mentors during my early stages that made a career in music seem possible. I’ve never stopped since!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d say the main lesson that I’ve learned is to always stand up for yourself. Vocalize your opinions in and out of the studio. There was a long period of time where I was agreeing with people in sessions because it was easier, but I never liked the outcome of the song. I’ve learned that if you’re working with the right people, they will and should support your artistic decisions, as it’s my song at the end of the day! I have also come to believe in myself and my musicality more. In my upcoming project, I’m playing guitar and bass on most of the songs and had a big say in the production. I’ve never felt more connected to my music until now because of this. I wouldn’t say it’s been easy to come to this conclusion (it took a while to get here), but I’ve been lucky enough to meet a lot of good people that support me and validate my opinions.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
It’s hard to sum yourself up into a paragraph, but the main thing you should know is that this is going to be a long journey. There’s a lot to figure out, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Since I started so young, people have seen me grow and change over what feels like a short amount of time to them, but a lifetime to me. I, like everyone, have struggled with confidence and discovering who I am in the eyes of social media, but I truly have never felt closer to myself than I do right now.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Performing makes me the happiest. I’ve never felt so connected to something like I do performing on stage. It sounds cliché, but it’s definitely what I’m meant to do. Fashion also makes me happy! Self-expression through clothes and thrifting have built up my confidence a ton. I also think there’s nothing more important than surrounding myself with good friends and going on adventures! I’ve learned that reserving time for friends and reserving alone time are two things I need to stay happy and grounded. My dog also makes me happy like no one else can hahahaha.
