Today we’d like to introduce you to Warren Garrett.
Hi Warren, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have loved music since I can remember. Originally from South Carolina, I have been back in Nashville for 5 years. I spent a couple years on Broadway but over the last few I have been focusing more on the road. I’ve always wanted to live out the story you hear about 4 people jumping in a van and heading out to play shows, and I’ve been lucky to do that over the last year and gearing up to play even more shows this year.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think smooth roads exist for most people. Especially someone who wants to carve out a place for themselves and build something of their own. I appreciate that though. If it wasn’t for the challenges I’ve faced then I wouldn’t have had the chance to improve or the opportunity to fight and be better than when I started.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to say I’m on the rock side of country. I grew up listening to every genre and style so I appreciate things in all of them. I try and bring that to my music and melodies. I would say I’m most proud of the people I get to chase a dream with, other artists, writers, venue owners that just really and honestly love music. The family we get to choose. I would say what sets me apart musically is one, I’m independent so I don’t have to answer to anyone on the creative choices we make. Also, my voice, not in a “I’m the best ever” kind of way but I think my voice is different, I hated that fact early on but I’ve really come to appreciate it.
What do you think about luck?
Well, luck is when preparation meets opportunity right? So, I do my best to be as prepared as I can be for when the opportunity comes.
