Inspiring Conversations with Tereva Parham of TerevaFeva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tereva Parham.

Hi Tereva, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Rockford, Illinois native who set my sights on moving to Nashville while a student at Illinois State University, pursuing a bachelor’s in music business. Although my plan didn’t pan out as desired immediately after graduation, I knew I’d make my way to Music City one day.

Eight years later and with a revised plan to advance my 17-year career in communications and media, I headed to Nashville. I’ve been here for nearly 5 years and I can wholeheartedly say that it was the right decision for me and was worth the wait.

I enjoy exploring the city, learning about its history, and doing my part to advocate for equitable opportunities for everyone to thrive in Music City and Tennessee. I’m often somewhere supporting Black-owned businesses and likely planning my next visit to a Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. Fun fact: My parents owned a philanthropic-based ice cream shop while I was growing up, so the love of ice cream is basically in my DNA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges was making the decision to bet on myself in a new city and state. It took leaving a toxic work environment, having supportive family and friends – even when they didn’t understand my goal, following a strict financial plan, and putting all confidence in the God in me to work through me. We don’t know the power of our faith until we put it in action. I’d done the work educationally, professionally, and in the community in Illinois, but doing it in Nashville meant doing it differently, better, and beyond.
