
Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Hannah Rawiszer.
Hi Dr. Rawiszer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m the youngest of 7 and the only girl! Raised in a large family, there was never a shortage of support for my endeavors and I am so grateful for that! I come from a business-minded family so it was no surprise to them when I left my 9-5 in January 2021 and become self-employed. It was really just a matter of time before I did it; at least that’s what my mother always believed. She somehow knew I’d find business ownership eventually because working for other people NEVER excited me. So, I made this HUGE life change right in the middle of a pandemic. And at this point in my life, I was about to be 45 and had not been to a networking event in over 4 years. My LinkedIn had been abandoned for years and I was taking a break from social media. Not to mention, I’m an introvert, and being in a room full of networking and small talk for 10 minutes is enough to completely exhaust me. But I didn’t let that stop me! I couldn’t. It was very clear that I had to leave my job. At that time, it seemed like a crazy decision, considering all of the people out of work, but I felt a strong pull towards independence. More than anything I wanted to use my talents and abilities to help people and I wanted to do it on my terms. So, three weeks before I resigned from my decent-paying job at a non-profit, a close friend suggested that I look into becoming a virtual assistant (VA) because, as she put it, I could continue carrying out my excellent administrative services in a remote capacity. I knew I was meant for something greater. I wanted to do work that aligned with my core values. I desired to have freedom of time while working in my zone of genius (which up to this point was a beautiful blend of classroom instruction, research -I have a Ph.D. in education – leadership, executive administration, operations, etc…). So, after a lot of time on Google and YouTube, I soaked up everything I could about this new venture and by the end of January 2021, I launched Helping Hannah Professional Services!
I’ve lived in TN for 23 years (that’s half my life!) and for the last 4 years, the Nashville area is home. I’ve been blessed this past year to work from home and use my professional experience and skillset to help business owners and busy C-Suite professionals handle their day-to-day administrative tasks and operations faster and more efficiently. Many of my early clients were referrals from local Nashville networking groups and I cannot express enough gratitude for the local people that supported and continue to support me as I step into a new phase for Helping Hannah Pro. My experience as a virtual professional gradually moved me to shift my business focus and it revealed a passion for high-level strategic admin support optimization. As my business continues to grow into 2022, I’ve niched down and now work exclusively as an Admin Support Specialist. I help stressed-out female Solopreneur service providers leverage admin support to grow their business and thrive! I love helping people free up their time to do more of what they love. When admin support is leveraged well, it brings increased peace of mind and time to be more present in our lives, not to mention the ability to shift our focus to the high-level tasks that need to get done to strategically grow and scale a business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been an exciting road, but definitely not smooth. When I moved to TN 23 years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life! I started as a bank teller. I was good at it but didn’t love it so I moved on. I’d usually make it to the 3-year mark, get antsy and start looking for a new job. You name it, I’ve done it. I’ve been an insurance agent, a classroom teacher, a graduate student, an adjunct professor, a radio show host, an executive administrator, a non-profit office manager, a yoga teacher, a Director of Educator at a PBS station… I’m probably forgetting something! Every experience of my professional career shaped me into the person I am today and gave me the confidence to jump into business ownership. I’d say the biggest struggle of my life was finding the thing I am passionate about. Finding the thing that I get excited to do every day.

If you are passionate about doing something, then start. Don’t wait until you’re ready because you’ll never be ready. Take that client before you have your process figured out. Learn as you go and make mistakes. Be willing to start messy!
I think it’s important to set goals and know “why” you do what you do. Keep your “why” at the center of everything and let it drive and motivate you to never give up on your dreams!
Always keep your mindset in check. Your thoughts will create your reality so if you want to succeed, tell yourself you will!
And invest in yourself. This will look different for everyone – a social media manager, a VA, a business coach – but the most important investment you can make is taking care of YOU. Make your wellness a priority and the payoff will be great. You’ll have more energy to show up for the people who rely on you the most.
