Meet Caleigh Boyd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleigh Boyd.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I remember being as young as five years old when I first felt the urge to want to leave my hometown, and that feeling never left until I finally did. I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and no offense to that city, but I never felt like I was meant to stay there.

No matter what school I went to, what job I had, or whatever activity or hobby I was doing, I was constantly finding myself hitting a wall and I wanted to change that more than anything. Knoxville is not far from Nashville, but the traditions and ways of thinking always felt vastly different.

I dropped out of college my freshman year and decided to pursue something in a creative field which led me to become much more serious about my art.

I had often been told that being successful in a creative field was not a huge possibility, but after many setbacks, I had felt like there was not much to lose and I decided to go for it. Today, I could not be happier with my decision and the path that it continues to lead me down.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t be where I am today or with the knowledge that I now have without having been through that trauma. I try not to dwell on the past because it has led me to such a positive and hopeful place in my life right now.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Mostly I am an artist, I specialize in visual art and makeup design.

Before I moved to Nashville, I attended Tennessee School of Beauty and graduated with my license in medical esthetics and certificate in makeup design which I now use as a bridal and editorial makeup artist. After moving to Nashville, a co-creator and I came up with the idea for Visualized Karma which is a collaboration of both of our visual arts, mostly abstract acrylic paintings.

This is something that I have become extremely passionate about because we flow so well together while painting and we are both able to mesh our different styles and ideas.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
My favorite thing about the city of Nashville is the opportunity I have found here, there is much room for growth. On the other hand, I truly am just not a huge fan of country music. So I would say that’s definitely the thing I like the least about Nashville.
