Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaron Micah.
Hi Jaron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am an artist, writer, and producer from Southern California and currently based out of Nashville, TN! I am classically trained on piano and have played since I was five years old. Around the age of eleven or twelve, I picked up my dad’s acoustic guitar and fell in love with playing it. This led to the creative side of my music starting to flourish as I began to sing, play other instruments, write my own music, and record and produce it! I am heavily influenced by my faith and worship background as well and I’ve been leading worship for about eight years. I love intertwining my faith into my creative expressions of music and worship. A major writing inspiration is my brother Caleb, who has severe autism and other disabilities. He is a huge part of my life and his impact on my life has made me who I am as a person and artist. Moving forward, my primary passions lie in writing, mixing, and producing music and I am extremely grateful and excited to embark on this career in the heart of Nashville’s music scene as I study music at Belmont University.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say it hasn’t necessarily been an easy journey, but I am extremely grateful and blessed to be where I am today in this country and town pursuing what I love. I am beyond blessed compared to many in this world and I believe the challenges I have faced have made me who I am and have helped shape and mold me. The main struggles I have faced have had to do with growing up with my brother Caleb who has severe autism and other disabilities. My childhood was not exactly a normal one as my brother’s 24/7 care and needs consumed our families time and his disabilities and behaviors bring many challenges. Growing up with Caleb has given me a profound perspective however – I am very grateful for what I have and the gifts of music God has given me in light of all that Caleb does not have and his ability to still smile despite his disabilities.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in creating authentic, acoustic music that can reach and impact others. I primarily work with singer-songwriters using organic instruments and sounds in the genres of folk, Americana, country, and contemporary Christian. This includes writing, producing, and mixing, and mastering. I also specialize in guitar playing, worship leading, and I have experience in audio tech and ministry administration.
I am most proud of my debut EP “Hold Fast” and my new single “Rainy Day” as I executed just about every part in the process of creating the songs and getting them polished and radio-ready. My song “Sweet Sweet Sound” from my EP debuted on the country station 99.1 The Ranch.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I would say one of the key things I am learning more and more about music every day is the art of discipline and routine. There is no other way to be great at something than practicing and repeating it over and over. The earlier you can learn the disciplines of practicing routines or regimenting your daily time for whatever skill you are studying or wanting to get better at, the much easier it will be to enter the music industry and not be easily overwhelmed.
