Community Highlights: Meet Crystal Aguilar of WeCare Nannies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Aguilar. 

Hi Crystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, when I was 8 years old, I told my mom I wanted to be a nanny. I walked that path all through childhood. As soon as I was old enough, I got certified as a babysitter and started handing out handmade flyers to all the families in the neighborhood. Soon, I was the go-to sitter for all the families in my neighborhood! As I got through high school, and then college I still continued to pursue part-time nanny roles, and when I left Purdue, I sought my first live-in nanny job and moved across the country. I had several nanny roles before I ended up on the matching side, as everyone I knew was asking me to help them seek nannies. From there I started my first Agency, but that only lasted a couple of years before I was ready to get back in the daily grind of nanny work. In 2019 I met Spencer and Chase in Orlando, FL and we really connected, but at the time they didn’t have any roles that were a fit for me. We continued to stay connected year after year, and that’s how this year WeCare Nannies was born. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is any road ever perfectly smooth? In life, my motto is we are always learning. I invest in myself and educating myself continuously. Without a bumpy road we’d never grow or develop. I’ve had positions that weren’t a great fit for me, and several opportunities to develop and improve myself on the agency side. I’ve just continued to learn and grow from experience as best as I can, ultimately knowing I’m working to a better me and a better business- which means more success for our families and nannies! 

We’ve been impressed with WeCare Nannies, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in personal and high-quality matched between families and domestic staff- mostly nannies but we do service the entire household staffing industry. 

We really take a personal approach and invest a significant amount of time in getting to know both our families and nannies. We dive deep into likes, dislikes, parenting styles, lifestyle, hobbies, favorite types of books, children’s needs, pets, allergies, dietary lifestyle, and many other things. 

We believe in fostering the growth and develop of current and future generations of nannies by investing in building community and providing educational and mentoring opportunities. 

I am most proud of continuing to be able to provide quality care to families, and quality service, and professional representation to the wonderful nannies and caregivers we work with. 

What makes you happy?
My dogs, my husband, and the nanny industry. I’m super passionate about elevating the industry and advocating for fair and legal pay, standards, and benefits for nannies all over the country!
