Life & Work with Ryan Bronson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Bronson.

Hi Ryan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born & raised in a small town called Waverly, NY & took a liking to hip-hop & rock music at a very young age.

I have always been a bit of a technology nerd, so I began dabbling with audio production when the home studio was just gaining popularity on the internet, I would write & record for myself.

That passion led me to apply for school at the Art Institute of Tennessee – Nashville, where I ended up dropping out after two years.

I moved back to Waverly, where I really honed in on the craft & self-taught myself everything else. writing techniques, marketing, producing, show booking, tour booking, anything to do with the industry, I would just watch Youtube videos.

I have been able to build myself around 6-7 million overall plays across all platforms, have 4 projects chart on the iTunes hip-hop/Rap Charts & my most recent album hit #16 on the iTunes Alternative charts in June of 2021.

Learning this many fields has given me the opportunity to be an A&R for a small company that I work with now. It allows me to dive into one of my other passions – discovering talent.

I love finding artists with raw potential who have no idea how good they actually are, or people from places like where I come from where everyone tells them to “get a real job” and help guide them along their journey as an artist.

2022 is my tenth year in the music industry!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not. Learning how to produce, record, mix, master, promote, market, book, & the many roles that it takes to be successful in the business is a stressful process. It’s not always the most financially stable business to be in either.

Coming from the town that I come from, there’s not much work. Its factories, restaurants, sales, schools, & hospitals & bars & that’s about it. The idea of having any form of career in anything creative, artistic, athletic, or really anything not considered a “normal” job makes you sound like an alien.

You have constant negativity & criticism thrown your way. It seemed like every time I went somewhere there I heard some form of comment about being a rapper. Gaining skills when there’s not a whole lot of people you can really learn under in an area like that is also difficult.

I was lucky to have made a friend in the industry a while back who has been able to kind of help guide me along my way, but just like with everything, my whole career has been a steady process of trial & error.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family, my friends, & music. I am complex yet simple. I want my passion to be my work & my work to provide me the space to spend my time with my family & friends.
