Check Out Willie Boy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Boy.

Willie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Irish & Sicilian kid born in New York City. I moved to New Jersey at a young age and started making music when I was 13 years old. It became my therapy, as soon as I discovered GarageBand and a microphone I was making 3-4 mixtapes a year from my bedroom.

By the time I was 18, I was recording in Wu-Tang’s studio in Staten Island. I had to pleasure of opening up for acts such as Mobb Deep, KRS One, Joe Budden, & more. I’ve been plugging away the last few years trying to perfect my craft. This year, I decided to move to Nashville to pursue music full-time.

It’s a music city, and it seemed like the perfect fit.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been pretty bumpy, to say the least, but that’s what made me fall deeper in love with music by the day.

When I recorded my first song, it was the day after my grandfather’s funeral. I had been writing down lyrics the entire time he was in the hospital and had to get them out.

In 2016, my father passed away at 54 years old. He was my best friend in the world. I know that I have angels watching over me, and that is what drives me to push this music to the absolute limit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Well, as I stated before I’ve been making music since I was 13, I’m 26 now. But, in the past year and a half, I have gained a lot of traction and it’s been incredible.

Did a collab with Dizzy Wright and SwizZz titled “Cocoa Puff.” I started a weekly series on Instagram called “60 Second Sessions” which is basically making a song in 60 seconds.

This got my following up to almost 20,000 and I even got a follow from Mr. Kanye West!

What’s next?
I plan to take the world by storm. I’ve seen the effect my music has had on people. It’s helped people cope with depression, anxiety, and addiction. I know as my audience continues to grow, the more people I can help.
