Hi Charles, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve been working as a business coach for the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Vol State Community College since 2007. About 6-7 years ago, I wanted to start practicing what I preached, so I started doing some freelance work.
My original idea was to create a done-for-you email newsletter service for banks and CPA firms. As part of one of the packages I was offering was to create a video.
The one catch was that I really didn’t know how to create videos:).
However, that is what one of the CPA firms wanted, so I became self-taught very quickly. And I soon realized that some of those early and not-so-great videos were getting more engagement than the well-written content that I was so proud of.
I quickly moved over to doing animated explainer videos and now that freelance work and become a full-time business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can’t imagine anyone saying yes to this question.
For me, the bumps in the road have been finding a niche, scaling, and focusing only on the things that matter.
I went from having seven different target markets to narrowing it down to Financial, Insurance, and Busy Professionals.
The hardest part was documenting all of the different processes I have and then finding the right VA and contractors to take over, but that has been the best thing I could’ve ever done.

I specialize in creating Explainer Videos for Busy Professionals. I offer custom-created videos and plug-n-play videos.
