Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Marie Hunter.
Hi Allie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born into a creative family surrounded by singers, musicians, actors & dancers, and was deeply grounded in the classics of country music from a young age. My mum always jokes about how she used to listen to MTV Country Hits whilst she was pregnant with me – and that that is where my love for country music started!
Growing up I performed in many leading-lady roles in musical theatre groups from the tender age of 6, before going on to gig across the UK from the age of 15. I then attended drama school, wrote a science-fiction novel, scripted a collection of short films and plays – one of which I performed across London in 2018 – before embarking on my exciting journey with FH Block at the renowned Ealing Studios, to bring life to my original music and start sharing some with the country music world.
I have been writing music for as long as I can remember and I wanted all of my debut tracks to the country world to be wholesome, to come straight from me and my heart. They had to be honest, had to be real, but most of all had to make me feel that essence of country music that I fell in love with back when I heard my first-ever Dolly Parton song.
I’ve had big dreams of Nashville since I was a child, and to finally be on the path there is quite surreal. I’d love nothing more than to be picked up by a label who believes in my dreams as much as I do. It’s an exciting road ahead and I am so grateful for everyone that has believed and supported me already. None of this would be possible without the amazing network I have around me today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been some road blocks, some struggles, some bad relationships that tried to quieten my dream – but every person that told me to quit, every challenge I’ve faced has helped me carve out my writing and fuel the fire in my belly even more!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wanted my music to focus on storytelling with tales straight from my heart. I call upon the moments that have shaped my life so far to form the poetic narratives in my music. The music I’ve released so far has just been a teaser, a taste of the artist I am. The music to come is sensitive, emotionally honest, raw, and gutsy. I want to be bold with my creative choices. I want to make someone feel something.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Oo tough question. All of my favourite childhood memories are the ones where I’m performing. Whether it be in my school’s annual variety show or the local town’s musical theatre production… I just love creating, telling stories, making people feel connected. There’s no feeling like it.
