Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Poss.
Hi Shannon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I bought a sign company and printed a shirt for my employees that had the Murfreesboro Square logo on it and customers wanted one too! I printed a small batch of tees with that logo on the front and started selling them fast! From there we created a mug, then a pillow, then another shirt… before I knew it, I wiped the entire front of the sign shop from sign samples and replaced it with the local gift shop known as 615 Collection you see today full of local goodies!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
NO! I do it for LOVE! Although the brand is widely supported and successful, a professional opinion might differ from that of my own. There are many struggles and obstacles I have overcome or still deal with today! Covid, which needs little explanation as it greatly changed everything about all of our lives. As a business owner, I had to adapt to a new selling process, better marketing strategies, and new pick-up or customer shopping accommodations. I have had people rip my brand off from big chain stores like Palmetto Moon to locals and previous employees. I still struggle daily with community competition, social media, brand awareness, and rising overhead costs amid global changes, and more!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our focus is around local love, representing Murfreesboro and surrounding areas. Showing support of Tennessee as a whole and the people and places that make this state so great to live in and why people call it home. Unlike other brands we have a little bit of everything from apparel, home decor, accessories, and giftables. I think most brands similar to ours is centered around mostly hats and shirts. We produce all of our products in-house and support the use of locally sourced items, as well as handmade work from local artisans!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Great question. In short… happiness. Not fame, not fortune. But making things that make me happy. Seeing those same things bring a smile to someone else. Knowing that other people enjoy the brand, the products, and want to wear or gift them to make someone else smile.
