Meet Bonny Parihar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonny Parihar.

Hi Bonny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Bonny Parihar. I was born and brought up in South India. My dad passed away when I was 9 yrs old and so I was brought up by my single mom and elder brother. Now I’m a mom to my teenage son and married to my husband for 17 yrs. I live with my small yet sweetest family at Nashville, TN.

As a kid, I was always fascinated with makeup and as I got older, I realized how skincare and makeup went hand in hand and so my passion extended from Makeup to Makeup & Skincare. I got married at 22 and had my son at 24 and jumped onto the bandwagon of taking care of my family. It’s when I turned 38, I realized that taking care of your family is never-ending and so you need to make time for your passion and live your dream despite of everything good and bad going on in your life. My husband and my son were my biggest supporters when I started my YouTube channel. I am who I am today because of these 3 very special people in my life, my mom who showed me how to be a strong independent woman, my husband and son who taught me unconditional love and showed me the strength to believe in myself. Now I have a full time job, a very active YouTube channel, social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook and my website) and still remain to be a control freak managing my house and take care of my husband and son. I love everything that I do ❤️

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My childhood was never smooth. My mom was the sole earner of the family and so we had to make a lot of adjustments in life. My brother and me were so cool with our lifestyle that we had non complaints, all that mattered was that we were there for each other. We had to change schools often due to financial crisis, we had to go through a very weird phase in one of our schools where boys and girls were not allowed to speak with each other and so I was not allowed to speak even with my brother. I’ve heard about amazing hostel lives; however; the hostels I stayed during my school days were absolute torture. My college life took a uturn and changed my view towards life. I meet the most amazing friends with whom I’m still in touch with.

As a South Indian woman I was always shy and trying to break my shell to face the world after college was a huge challenge. That’s when I met my husband and he played a major role in helping me to define myself as an individual and present a better version of me to the world. We’ve been married for 17 yrs now and I can’t imagine foreseeing a life without him and my son.

Pandemic changed our lives drastically in a very good way. As a family we got even closer and nothing else mattered to us. That’s when we started encouraging each other to do something that we love and create our own identity. Since then my husband has become a photographer, my son has been hugely involved in sports (both my husband and son play cricket for leagues) and I started my YouTube channel. Since I’m a beginner, the only challenge I face is attracting more subscribers and brands. I’d like to see my channel grow to a level where I can stop investing financially as much as I’m doing now and get recognized my major brands and other channels and get lots and lots of subscribers and still my channel remains genuine to the core.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Makeup Artist and Social Media Content Creator. I love makeup that helps you show off your skin and feel good about yourself. I believe everyone has their own style of makeup and I find it so interesting to figure it out.
I’m proud of myself because I am a self-learned makeup artist. I was almost 5 when I did my first makeup using watercolors. I didn’t have money to buy makeup even when I grew up. My brother bought me my first lipstick for my 16th birthday, it was a bright red yardley lipstick in a metallic blue and gold packaging. Then I bought my second lipstick when I was 19 yrs. old and had my first full-time job. I started investing more into skincare and makeup when I turned 30 and at 38, I started my YouTube Channel and creating content on Instagram.

Right now, my age and ethnicity sets me apart from the beauty community. I see so many Asian content creators and I’m so proud to see how established they’ve become as they started to express themselves from a younger age. I know that by the time I gain more recognition and reach my dream status, I’m gonna be much older but I’m happy to be in that category and that will be a beautiful highlight that sets me apart

How do you define success?
Success is a huge word, so we need to make sure not to be too tough on ourselves to be successful. Even achieving a small task should be considered a success. Always remember to pat your own back on an achievement. We are currently in a world full of crabs who’ll cling on you but will never let you go ahead, so self-motivate and self-appreciate to push yourself to achieve anything and don’t forget to pause and celebrate every step of life.
