Meet Kindy Girdley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kindy Girdley.

Kindy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thank you so much! Let’s see… I owned and operated an organic and locally sourced catering & private chef company for 10 years. It was wonderful and utterly exhausting so when my body and nervous system was screaming at me to slow down and take care of myself, I finally listened and in 2018, I decided to close my catering company to focus on weekly private chef services only.

This freed up quite a lot of time and I had been interested in learning more about the medicinal herbs and mushrooms around me so I decided to take a Vitalist Herbalism online course with The School of Evolutionary Herbalism. This program is incredibly insightful and full of important and necessary information to work with herbs in a clinical setting. But it is an online course and I wanted to commune with these incredible herbal allies in person, so I began growing them to have a deeper level of understanding and connection from seed to sprout, to full-grown plants, to herbal medicine. Cultivating relationship with Mother Earth has been such a deep medicine and remembering for me, it has become the most important part of my daily practice and so much of what I invite my clients to explore in their own journey.

As I continued my love affair with plants, I became thirsty for more knowledge for all kinds of modalities. A friend referred me to an amazing Reiki practitioner, Alison Ledbetter. After my first session, I was very intrigued and wanted to learn more. I continued to see Alison for about a year and one day she reached out and asked me if I wanted to learn Reiki and it was a full-body yes! Alison is a Reiki Master & Teacher so I signed up for a training and I experienced such an incredible awakening. Reiki was exactly what I needed at that exact moment. I wanted to learn Reiki to expand and deepen my own spiritual practice, but it became abundantly clear that I was to share this beautiful healing practice with others. I became a practitioner during the pandemic and decided to see clients out of my greenhouse where I incorporate so much of what I love! I offer an herbal infusion upon arrival, Reiki is received along with several other helpful modalities within the session and it’s all done with Mother Nature surrounding us in her abundant love. It’s a magical experience for myself and my clients.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, it came together with such ease. I would say the only bumps really are dealing with inclement weather conditions at times. Eventually, the time will come that I need a more permanent all-weather location and I am open to that but in the meantime, I am enjoying every minute of this very special space I have created.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Last winter I decided to become a Reiki Master which is required to teach Reiki. And now I offer and absolutely love sharing these beautiful teachings each month. Truly a highlight!

As well as my Reiki practice, I have an apothecary where I create yummy herbal tea blends, facial oil, yoni steaming herbs, bath salts, soothing muscle oil, flower essences, salves, natural insect repellent and more! Last year I began offering custom tea blends for individuals and small businesses to serve their clients and it has been a really fun addition to my offerings.

And another new addition this year is I began co-hosting wellness retreats with some amazing women. Some I cook for and share the importance of slowing down, pausing, giving gratitude, and allowing the senses to naturally signal the digestive juices before eating, growing your own food, familiarizing yourself with “yarden” herbs to incorporating in meals, and infusing your loving energy into a delicious meal for yourself or loved ones. And some I offer grounding meditations to deepen connection with Mother Earth.

I also offer a Community Sliding Scale option that is geared toward BIPOC & LGBTQI+ but is also available to anyone in need of loving care.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My teacher, mentor, and friend, Alison Ledbetter, my friend and colleague, Emily Spring and my Reiki Master sisters who are such a huge support system to me, and of course my amazing clients! I am so grateful for all of you!
