Rising Stars: Meet Andrea Clark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Clark.

Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I am a full-time administrator. I am also an experienced plus-size model and body-positive advocate who is awesome at articulating the visions of the brands I work with.

I began modeling, in 2007, after being accepted for a plus-size runway show in Chicago, IL. I endured some intense training and preparing for that show, and it really paid off.

That experience changed my life and charged every step thereafter. I continued to study the industry and networked while working as a freelance model. I’ve walked runways from LA to NY and worked with many brands over the years.

As my family matured, I reduced my travel and focused on projects in Nashville, TN. It was then that I was discovered by my current agency. I am enjoying my growth in this chapter and looking forward to more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a challenging road, but not without great reward.

Rejection is a big part of the industry. It started for me at age 12, with a modeling school, and was very discouraging. But being cast for that first runway show helped to boost my confidence. I learned that resilience is essential.

Having flexibility is an ongoing responsibility. With a family and a full-time job, my time management skills have sharpened. Ultimately, the goal is to save time and money doing what you love. When duty calls with short notice and/or out of town, decisions must be made. I have had some good employers who have worked with me and my tribe is a life-saver.

Also, modeling is hard work! There are lots of things that go unsaid/unseen that are necessary to be successful in this role. Investing in myself by taking care of my health (mental and physical) and appearance is a start. I also have to be knowledgeable about my body, the industry, and my clients.

These things require time, talent, and treasure.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most known for being a runway model. However, my experience includes various types of modeling (commercial, fashion, print, promotional, parts, & fit) and some acting.

Outside of the relationships I’ve built, I am proud to have made history and created my own lane. I’m also proud to share more of myself with the world. I am continuing to give back by teaching others the skills that I have mastered through model coaching.

I have a unique way of bringing out the best in others, a creative mind, a winning mindset, and big energy!

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?

I am open to new opportunities! If you have a modeling job/project in mind, simply contact the AMAX agency or send me an email. If interested in my coaching services, please send an email for more information.

Support is always welcomed! If you know someone who would benefit from my services (modeling or model coaching), please share my information. Otherwise, I’d love to connect on social media.
