Today we’d like to introduce you to Connor Donnelly.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello! My name is Connor Donnelly, possibly better known by my artist name, Conbleez, and I am a Nashville-based Musician/Entrepreneur. I am originally from Ann Arbor Michigan, but I’ve been living in Nashville for about five years. I’ve always had music in my life; learning new instruments and freestyle rapping with friends, but eventually, I decided I wanted to make entertainment a career.
Just before I moved here, I started ConDon Records, my company, which created itself organically when I started recording, distributing, and performing my own music. The main focus of my music is to inspire others to follow their dreams, and the mission of my record label is to give people that opportunity and creative outlet. Although my music is mainly Hip-Hop, and this city is mainly rooted in Country Music, Nashville has outlets for everybody, from all walks of life.
This city has been amazing to me, I’ve learned so much here, had so much fun, and met so many amazing people. There is a land of opportunity and connections to be made here and I’m honored and excited to call this place home and to be able to tell my story with publications like this. Here’s to The Voyager and the great city of Nashville Tennessee for aligning this opportunity.
I hope you enjoy hearing my music and my story. Cheers!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although there have been many smooth stretches along this road, there have also been many obstacles.
The obstacles I have been facing have started to seem self-inflicted, and frankly selfish, as they have mainly been about money and media exposure, so I try to keep in mind that fame and fortune are not everything.
Life does seem to be more about the journey than the destination sometimes, so I try to embrace any obstacles on the road and see them as learning opportunities.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a Hip-Hop artist, I enjoy delving into the subcultures, such as Graffiti and DJing, and incorporating that into my style, my sound, and my imagery.
As much as I collaborate with others, I also try to learn how to do things myself every step of the way which I’m proud of, and I think sets me apart from a lot of other artists.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That I have to enjoy myself. I have to remind myself to stay present, as important as the past and the future are.
It’s important to work hard and be passionate and focused and driven, but sometimes you just have to be patient and enjoy the ride.
