Today we’d like to introduce you to Milton Jackson.
Hi Milton, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for acting growing up, but due to limited resources in Milwaukee Wisconsin (my hometown), I never got the chance to exercise my passions until I moved to Nashville upon graduating high school.
While in college, I was able to experience both acting in film and on stage, as well as being a part of various radio programs on the air. I knew then that the world of entertainment was where I was supposed to be.
And although I wasn’t a huge fan of acting on stage, not only is that currently a huge part of what I do, but I’ve grown to love it in ways I didn’t think were possible. And because of my start on stage, it’s allowed me to have many of the opportunities I’ve been graced with now even while transitioning over into film as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth.
I wondered if this was really what I wanted to do with my life, whether or not I’m as good as I think or others say, and constantly wished I was farther in life without realizing how far I’d come to be where I am now.
Ultimately, the destination is the end goal but the real appreciation comes from the journey and everything it takes to get to where you want to be. And having the right love and support definitely makes the road a little smoother.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor, who has performed on both stages and on film. I am most proud of being able to tell a story and make the audience feel something each time they watch a performance.
It’s more than reading lines from a script in an overdramatized way. It’s really immersing yourself into the mind, body, and soul of both yourself and your character, and bringing it to life for the viewer’s entertainment. That feeling is priceless and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
What I think sets me apart from others is the love I have for what I do. I walk into the table read ready to learn as if it’s my first show ever and perform as if it’s my last. And I love every single minute of it from the table to the stage.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Never stop believing in yourself. If you believe you can, you can do anything you set your mind to
