Inspiring Conversations with Kaya Gasperich of Shenanigoats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaya Gasperich.

Hi Kaya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from Nashville, Tennessee.

I grew up and spent most of my childhood traveling between the country of Tennessee and the city of Tennessee. Both of which definitely gave me different viewpoints and experiences that I have grown and brought into my life as I’ve gotten older and into Shenanigoats business that I became a part of at the beginning of the pandemic.

Going a little bit deeper into my life and who I am as a person I grew up having a very athletic father and an activist mother so you can definitely understand the two conflicting personalities inside of me.

But with those two conflicting personalities, they’ve allowed me to grow into the individual that I am today and be able to bring not only the free-spirited activist fighting for the little person personality I have but also the organized strict Lee regimented athletic personality that I have inside of me.

Both of which are great aspects that I’ve spent the last year and a half incorporating into Shenanigoats. While also not negating those who came before me and helping Shenanigoats grow into what it was infamous for before the pandemic.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I won’t say that it’s been an easy road these past two years we have had a lot of obstacles and challenges trying to figure out our new way to operate in this pandemic and this post-pandemic world that we now live in.

But have been immensely grateful for the fact that not only did we survive the pandemic but we came out of the other side even better.

I would have to say the most challenging was trying to make sure all of the things that made Shenanigoats exciting and interesting before the pandemic could still remain in this new setup that we had post-pandemic and trying to keep our participants healthy and safe while also keeping the excitement and joy that comes when attending a Shenanigoats class or event.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I came into Shenanigoats to honor what Shenanigoats was before which was mostly just goat yoga, Private events, painting/cuddling with goats, and our goat landscaping.

But I come in and have my own new ideas for Shenanigoats and expanding us and making us a business where beforehand we outsourced everything to these amazing businesses in the surrounding Nashville area but now trying to grow ourselves to potentially becoming Shenanigoats Farm where we can host events and weddings and have camps for all types to come out and visit the farm learn about the animals learn about the healing properties of being around all these animals.

Doing stuff for the military that helps with PTSD helps kids like me and you who had emotional trauma in their formative years while their brain was still forming. While still keeping the things that everyone loves about Shenanigoats. From our amazing and fun goat yoga classes to our painting with goats classes.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My parents, my husband, and basically the village that helped raise me in Liberty Tennessee, and in Nashville.

I’ve been tremendously blessed with people I’ve surrounded myself with who have luckily got to watch me grow up since I was a child in Blossom into this young black woman running a business.
