Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Davidson.
Hi Lauren, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My father was a singer/songwriter and I’ve been singing since I could talk. I’ve always loved music and storytelling and have been on the stage since age 10. After moving to NYC I started writing songs and performing them and it’s been an amazing journey ever since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s a hard industry and being an independent artist has its struggles (and rewards) as well, I wear so many different hats and every day looks different.
Some days I’m a booking agent, some I’m a publicist and last I get to be an artist and perform and do what I love but it’s so worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m what I call an Urban Country Artist. It’s where the city meets the country. I write songs and tell stories about the things I’ve experienced and felt and lived.
I’m my true authentic self through my music and it’s scary and amazing getting to be so real and vulnerable with my fans.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Just be present and be real. Don’t force anything.
