Life & Work with Teddy Boldt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teddy Boldt.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in San Clemente California and moved to Nashville 10 years ago to join a band called Wavorly. Since then, I have played drums for about 20 other bands while working on building my Teddy at Night world.

I love drumming but I’ve had a solid lead singer complex for as long as I can remember. I eat, sleep, and breathe music. I love mezcal, watching Bluey with my 1-year-old, and trying to eat at Joyland with Caitlin (love of my life) as much as I can.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly moving from California to the South was a culture shock for sure. I didn’t understand it at first, but then quickly realized how beautiful these people are.

I’ve never been embraced by a community like this before. It’s not the easiest life trying to make art your career. I’ve had the honor of playing for some successful bands and I’ve seen a lot of dreams turn into monotonous day jobs.

My dream is to take over the world with Teddy at Night but also work hard to keep the passion and drive in it, while always putting people first.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am Teddy at Night. A nostalgia-inspired art-pop artist trying to make neon popular in the South.

These songs will always make me proud, but no matter how successful I become, I am nothing without the amazing people surrounding me. My family is top shelf and my friends are undeniable.

It feels funny trying to think of something that sets me apart from others when I mainly strive to be different from everyone else. I’m a very “in-person” dude so come to show and ill show you what sets me apart.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m currently playing a game called Tiny Tower with my little sister but other than that I live on Spotify hunting down new music. I love a podcast called Reply all.

My attention span isn’t very long so when it comes to books I mostly read music biographies. But even that sends me on a googling spiral for hours trying to find random facts and stories about my favorite artists.
