Rising Stars: Meet Jacob Adams of Smyrna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Adams .

Hi Jacob, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to today?
Yoo! My name is Jacob Adams, and I am a Nashville Native.
I was born and raised in a very large and loving Irish-Catholic family. Growing up, food was always the one thing that brought us together. I’ve been watching my Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins cook for my entire family all my life. My Grandmother, Polly Curran, ran the cafeteria at St. Edward’s Catholic School for 30 years. It was a family tradition to go to her house every Sunday (or every other) for breakfast. We would pack anywhere from 25-40 people into her 1400 sq. ft house to enjoy her cooking and each other’s presence. I lost my father at age 7. He also loved cooking. Everybody always told me they loved his food, and from what I can remember – I loved it also. After his death, cooking became a responsibility for being the man of my house. Safe to say, food is in my blood. I couldn’t run from it even if I tried. As I got older, I realized how much of a stronghold commercial fast-food chains and restaurants have on society. I started SoulPrep with a mission to provide quality meals not only made with fresh ingredients but handled with integrity as well. I feel like everybody deserves to eat food that will genuinely contribute to their overall well-being.
SoulPrep’s Core Values are:
-Flavor
-Freshness
-Community
-Health
Our Logo represents these core values as the 4 lines in the middle of the Zen Circle.
A Peaceful Mind + Thriving Body = A Happy Soul!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has never been smooth, but it has always been worth it. For 14 years, I’ve worked through 10+ jobs in numerous industries. I’ve worked in warehouses, call centers, corporate offices, and car dealerships. I’ve always worked hard, but that didn’t always equal financial success. While excelling at numerous jobs, I’ve almost had my house foreclosed. I had a car repossessed, almost lost my 12-year relationship, and watched my friendships weaken while giving my life away to the workforce. Those struggles led me here to where I am — chasing my purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Cooking for me gives me purpose. I love having the ability to make somebody’s day better by serving them food that looks appetizing, tastes delicious, and will provide them with the energy and nutrients to thrive throughout the day. I’ve found expression in cooking that allows me to tap into a creative side I never could reach. Cooking is the only medium that forces you to use all 5 senses:
-Sight
-Smell
-Touch
-Hearing
– and most importantly, TASTE
When designing the menu for SoulPrep, I wanted to ensure each dish stimulates all 5 senses leaving each customer satisfied and eager to eat with us again. What sets SoulPrep apart is our integrity in handling and outsourcing our ingredients. We are determined to find fresh local ingredients to keep our food vibrant and full of flavor. Community is one of the Core Values of SoulPrep. We want to start a program where we can donate free meals to single-parent households/struggling families in need one day. Everybody deserves access to delicious, fresh, and nutritious food.

What does success mean to you?
Success is fulfilling your purpose every day and doing something that positively impacts your life and others.
You were living a peaceful and happy life that you had to work for.
