Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa Collier.
Hi Teresa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ok, it’s quite long, but it’s me. Haha
So, I grew up in CT and pretty much right after high school started touring with bands. I managed merchandise on the road for about 10 Yrs and traveled all over the US and internationally. While on the road, I knew that lifestyle was not sustainable, I LOVED to have fun but it got to a point where I was partying or hungover more than I was sober. So on a break from tour, I signed up with www.achs.edu and started the diploma in holistic health practice program. I have always been conscious of nutrition’s importance and would read books on natural healing and nutrition in my downtime, so I figured it would be a great next step. I quit touring in 2011 and moved to CA. When I graduated from the holistic health program, my goal was to consult with people 1 on 1 to help them live healthier and support their bodies through nutrition, herbalism, aromatherapy, self-care and lifestyle changes. I didn’t know how to get started, so I decided to get a personal training certification since fitness had become a big part of my life. Working at the gym helped me get comfortable talking with people and was a great introduction to the industry. Unfortunately, things got rocky in CA, and I ended up moving. The consulting business got put on the back burner during the move, but I had been maintaining my fitness. I am now actively taking on more clients and promoting my online coaching on social media. I am in the process of transitioning to online coaching full-time. Helping people and learning more about holistic health, nutrition & fitness have always been my passion. I believe we all have infinite potential to heal ourselves if we give our bodies what it needs to repair and grow.
So that brings us to today. I am promoting the custom plans I design to support healthier lifestyle changes, optimize physical fitness, and dial in the nutrition to help the differences each individual wants to see I’m themselves.
My plans are different in that they consider the whole person, their experience level, if they’re going to a gym or working out at home, and any dietary preferences. These are not cookie cutter programs. I am here to build the plan around you, and guide you along the way. Change is difficult so I want this transition to be as easy and enjoyable as possible.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
No, it has not been smooth. As I mentioned, when I was on the road, I fell deep into alcohol and drugs and knew I wouldn’t be able to live like that. It took me coming off the road to clear my head and find my way. Not to say there haven’t been struggles here either. I have been clean from drugs for over 10 years, but I have struggled with alcoholism, anxiety, and depression. Happy to say I just turned 40 years old, 4 years clean from alcohol and I am in the best shape of my life!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a holistic health practitioner and personal trainer/health coach. I customize fitness, nutrition, and healthier lifestyle plans for each client. In our first call, we discuss their daily routine – what time they wake up to the time they go to bed, what they are eating and drinking, where they spend their time, and we make slight adjustments to the schedule to set them up for daily success.
I am known for my time on the road and the individual attention, time, and care I invest into each client. My strongest traits are my empathy and engagement in my client’s successes.
I am proud of all my clients and the success that they have made. I have one in particular who came to me with symptoms of PCOS and had been struggling with her weight for years. After 8 months, she is down 15lbs, her symptoms have been minimized, and she’s starting a new business! She has transformed her body and mind into something she never thought possible, and I’m happy to be by her side, guiding her along the way.
I would say my experience with substance abuse, anxiety, and depression, as well as the care and attention I give each individual, sets me apart from others. If someone has a specific barrier, I do my best to research the problem and find encouraging solutions. I also have programs to fit every budget. I don’t want anyone who wants to change to be left out because of financial hardships.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The health and wellness industry is growing at an exponential rate. People now understand more than ever how valuable personal health and wellness are to live a long and full life. The body we are born with is the only one we have, so it is up to us to use it and take care of it as best we can. Our lifestyle choices will either delay or accelerate age-related degenerative diseases. They will either promote our health or stress our immune systems. It is up to us to make choices that support the vision of ourselves we want, and I am here to help the evolution and growth of anyone who wants to change.
