Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Vasquez.
Hi Chad, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, I’ll start from the beginning. I was raised in an inland town in CA to a single mother on disability. My father left us before I was able to speak my first word. Growing up, it was my mom and me against the world.
This is a story of someone who wanted more, deserved more, and knew their worth. There was only one way to achieve “more” which was a lot of hard work. That wasn’t without many pitfalls along the way. I dropped out of High School at 17 and never completed my senior year.
I was confronted with an ultimatum, or rather what I felt was an ultimatum. Do I work full time and make money that will make my home life more livable, or do I continue to go to school? Well, situations dictate option #1. I woke up one day and realized that I was 18 with no education, and not who I told myself I was going to be.
The dreams I had were escaping me and it was time to change my world and increase my self-worth. Soon after, I took my G.E.D. and enrolled in Community College. At this point in my life, I met a girl that I luckily can now call my wife. As time went on, I transferred to a University majoring in Business and Finance.
It was around this time that I packed up and decided it was time to do bigger and do better. The confidence that was brought down from years of walking through the mud started to grow and it was showing and it was time to make changes and finally pursue the goal.
Eventually, I packed up and moved to Hollywood to start a new life where I saw one where the world would let me grow as big as I wanted to be. Moving to LA was something I never thought was possible. I then finally graduated with my degree in business and I was then recruited to run my first high rise in DTLA which came with its wave of growth, exhaustion, and frustrations, but was ultimately successful.
I am the youngest General Manager in my market, and of one of the highest-priced assets in multifamily real estate with a price tag of half a billion dollars. Circa LA is a twin tower high rise hovering over Crypto.com arena (formally Staples Center)located at 1200 S Figueroa St, commonly recognized by the 10,000 sqft of LED shining on the arena nightly.
As of today, my wife and I welcomed our daughter Scarlett Taylor, I have continued my education and currently obtaining my master’s degree from Harvard University, ext school, and moved markets to Nashville, Tennessee. I continued my love of high-rise real estate and currently hold the position of General Manager of 505, a 45-story and tallest building in Nashville.
Nashville has become the home we have always wanted. Every day, I am emerging more and more into the culture, history, and market. I am excited to be in the middle of the growth of this amazing city.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My entire experience has been based on life’s struggles and being hit with the face of reality day after day. It was easier to start living in my dreams than it was to live the hard truth of life. Funny enough, living in my dreams is what helped me fulfill my aspirations and achieve things I never thought were possible.
I hope someone reading this will have had similar struggles and know that the weight of the world on their shoulders is not as heavy as they think it is. Have confidence, set a plan, and pursue a goal, even if it takes longer than they hope. Don’t be scared, increase your worth, and never forget the word: Perseverance.
It takes people to help you succeed. I had a support system that helped me grow and caught me when I fell. Taking on a mentor, asking for help, and telling the world your plan are steps that helped me succeed, and it seems like a good formula to follow.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in high-rise residential towers.
For nearly the last 10 years, from Downtown LA to Nashville, I have managed high-rise assets either from development (or stabilized). As of today, I am the General Manager overseeing 505 Nashville, a 45-story high rise in the heart of downtown Nashville.
505 is comprised of 350 rental units and 178 condo units. Prior to being in Nashville, I was the General Manager of Circa LA, a 500 million dollar twin-tower mixed-use high rise overlooking Crypo.com arena.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I don’t think I have a single memory that was my “favorite”, but I have a general happy feeling of how simplistic life was overall.
Walking up to a friend’s house, asking your best friend’s mom “can Michael come out and play?” and then you just enjoy each other’s company.
Of course, we would often have a skateboard or BMX bike… but overall you just hung out with your friend day after day with no purpose but to live in that moment.
