Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Stoneman.
Hi Matthew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My Work in the outdoors started at 13 years old. I would walk around my neighborhood with a friend, carrying a lawnmower, weedeater, and gas can. We would knock on doors to get lawns to mow. We continued this business with the same clientele for 7 years and then sold the company. We did many landscaping projects throughout the years and successfully finished tons of projects. At 21, I realized I had lost my passion for mundane, routine lawn services. I decided to search out my passion inside this space. Foodscaping fell into my lap around that time. I grew a huge community Garden in 2020-2021 to become familiar with herbs, vegetable plants, and perennial trees. Now we work with residents and homeowners to utilize the growing space available to them for growing rewarding plants that provide food and medicine. With ever-looming food scarcity, lockdowns, supply chain breakdowns, and health being in decline in America, it is more of a necessity to grow our food to be sustainable and thriving into the future. Our mission is to leave the children coming behind us with fertile, clean soil and an abundance of perennial fruit trees and plants.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. This business has been filled with struggles and challenges. Some of the issues faced are marketing. Getting the word out and education can be some of the most challenging aspects. Of course, some other obstacles are in the way as well. Keeping up with Trucks and vehicles can be challenging due to equipment malfunctions and breakdowns. One challenging but beneficial thing is safety. It can be not easy at times always to follow all safety regimens. But sometimes, the little challenges getting tackled prevent even bigger challenges like injuries. Gas prices and inflation of goods and services have been challenging to convey to the consumer why the costs have risen so much.
We’ve been impressed with Integrity Growth Gardens, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Integrity Growth Gardens is a food revolution trailblazer company. We are planting seeds in mind through education about the benefits of growing your food. We want people to know that the best-tasting food comes from the ground closest to you. We can help anyone succeed by Growing their food. It takes patience, but the reward is incredible.
Foodscaping is making the lawn art that pays you back with a food harvest. You can start small or big, replacing existing ornamental plants with ones that bear fruits. We also help people that are DIYers. We bring in the inputs you need like Compost, Soil, worm castings, mulch, gravel, and any materials you might need to do your project.
Soil Smithing: Soil is what grows the plants. So we help develop the soil. We can turn clay non-living soil into intelligent living soil. We provide a broad forking service to make this job affordable and efficient for the consumer by providing alleviation of compaction like a tiller provides. Still, with a no-till option, we are preserving essential living organisms in the soil, like worms, beneficial insects, bacteria, and fungi. The plants depend on this undisturbed ecosystem to thrive.
What sets us out is integrity. We ensure that the customer is whole and happy with the completion of the project. We believe that we are doing our part to not only make a living for ourselves. But providing a mutually beneficial business proposition is a win-win for both people. We want our customers to have no regrets about hiring us because they receive rewards for years to come after our services.
Had we love to hear about any fond memories you have from growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is having no responsibilities and being able to spend my time exploring and enjoying time with friends riding bicycles, and being outside and in nature.
