Meet Rebecca Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Robinson.

Hi Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The design has always been a part of my life. I often moved as a kid, making floor plans and arranging the furniture at every new home. After earning her Bachelor of Interior Design at O’More College of Design, I worked as a Designer and Manager at a local furniture retailer. There, I gained knowledge of furniture construction, flooring, and textiles, as well as managing store operations, client budgets, and organizing the delivery/warehouse team. I launched the design firm in 2006, focusing on residential interiors and model home design. Working with builders & realtors, my experience designing Model homes gave me the eye for staging & accessorizing homes. As a longtime resident of Nashville, I know the area and real estate and design trends to enhance the home’s value. My design firm, Monarch Lane Interiors, is involved in every aspect of remodeling and new construction, from drawing floor plans to color and selections to managing contractors and overseeing the design and construction details. Now specializing in Kitchen and Bath Design, I am a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer-CKBD. I know industry guidelines and codes to keep your home’s best interests in mind—a National Kitchen & Bath Association member -NKBA. I am currently serving as the state chapter’s President. Continuing education is important to me so I can serve our clients best. You can find me hanging out with my husband and two boys cozied up by a fire or splashing in the pool when I am not at work—and always listening to great music and dancing!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While word of mouth has kept me busy, that doesn’t mean I always had the perfect job. I would say when you start and still say yes to everything. You want to make people happy, and sometimes you stretch yourself too thin. My struggles early on were not having systems and processes. I was reinventing the wheel with every new client. And when you say yes to a lot, you can end up disappointing people and burn out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The butterfly’s story relates strongly to the transforming path to great design. Monarch Lane Interiors is a full-service interior design firm in Nashville, TN. We specialize in remodeling and new construction and love designing the entire space. We help homeowners love the places they live in with a harmony of function and beauty. We accomplish this with our professional design education, signature process, and online design studio. We are serving clients locally and beyond.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
The first risk is leaving a great-paying job to pursue a passion. You know in your gut that you will wither away if you don’t do it. I would say that being a person of faith, I pray about everything, and when I have peace, I jump! We recently leaped to have a studio outside my home. Very excited about our new design studio!
