Daily Inspiration: Meet Kimberly Pointer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Pointer.

Hi Kimberly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2020. Because of that diagnosis 2021 brought many doctor appointments, surgical procedures; well as lots of rest and recovery. During the latter part of 2021, the idea was born for me to birth a loungewear apparel online store. I had so many visitors but didn’t feel like “thinking” about what to put on before they came. I would have physical therapy but again didn’t feel like “thinking” about what to wear to run out of the house for a couple of hours. I decided to launch Lounge Cutie Loungewear so women could choose an outfit without much thought. Relaxed dresses and sets are my signature items!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I never in a million years thought owning an online boutique would be so much work. I work a full-time job so I have to ensure I remember my “why” when things get rough and I am feeling tired. Doing my own marketing, advertising, sales, accounting, and so many other tasks keeps me on my toes and constantly learning. What makes it worth all of the work is meeting my customers in person and hearing how they love the products I sell.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in providing women loungewear apparel that allows them to be cute and comfy at an affordable price. My signature items are relaxed dresses and sets. I always want them to have the option to grab a 2-piece legging set and sandals and head out of the door to get their day going OR lounge around the house and enjoy some downtime in a dress and their comfortable house shoes. I pride myself in providing great service to my customers aka cuties. I want them to think of me as their girlfriend who sends them a package every so often in the mail. I love to see them excited about their purchases.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
1. Do your research. Learn your target audience. Learn their likes and dislikes. Continue to cater to them.

2. Understand the road may be tough. You will have slow months. You will have creative blocks. But always remember why you started and allow that to keep you motivated and consistent.

3. Find a mentor and learn as much as you can in your field. Don’t be afraid or be too selfish to invest in yourself.

4. Don’t worry what anyone thinks of you. Tune out the noise and focus on what God has placed in YOU.
