Exploring Life & Business with Lori Cloud of Lori Cloud Keller Williams Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Cloud.

Hi Lori, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I came back to TN from CA in 2007 when people would ask me if someone was gravely ill in my family to cause me to move to Nashville? Wow, how times have changed! I was just ahead of my time before Nashville was officially the “It City” and 13 years ahead of the COVID-sparked California wave of new residents. I considered going into real estate then, but the housing crisis was starting, and I didn’t know more than a handful of people, so I talked myself out of that-if I could rewind the clock, I would change that decision. Meanwhile, I stayed in the entertainment marketing lane, which included stints at an artist mgmt firm, an event marketing agency, and my last corporate gig, book publishing. I got to work with Chip & Joanna Gaines on their debut book and many other fascinating people. Coming from a major market outlook. It helped me anticipate what might come next (rooftop bars, upscale hotels, better restaurants, but not all the bachelorette parties!).

In late 2018, after buying a couple of investment properties and having success in speculative areas. I decided it was time to apply my marketing skills officially to real estate and get my license as I could see that the industry was becoming more tech-driven which was a natural segue with my background. I’m starting my 4th year as a full-time residential real estate agent and am in the top 20% of all agents in the Nashville area. That level of performance requires tenacity, a curiosity to keep learning, and a surprise and delight customer service approach.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
Changing lanes from entertainment marketing to real estate was a lateral move in many ways. Still, as a Realtor(R), you have to wear more hats than I ever imagined–home repairs to school systems, lending and finances to techniques of home staging, and even things I’d rather NOT know about septic systems and how to get rid of critters. It’s a challenge to keep up with it all, but I’m never afraid to say, “I don’t know, but I’ll find someone who does.” My biggest struggle is creating boundaries with my availability because I am so client-centric that sometimes I work for weeks without a day off and type emails at 11 pm. That’s a big goal for me to get things more in balance.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lori Cloud Keller Williams Realty Nashville-Music City REALTOR(R)?
One of my high-level goals is to help elevate the profession of real estate agents in the minds of the people I interact with, whether they are my clients or have a question about the market. It pains me that some consider us one notch above a cable provider in people you trust. Because we help people transact one of the most important financial assets they’ll ever own, we must operate at the highest level of competence. I’ll let my client reviews speak for how I do business, so feel free to check them out online. One new wrinkle in my business in the past 2 years is that I used to be very hyper-focused on Davidson County. Still, with affordability issues in the urban core and migration to wanting more “space,” I’m now driving from Hendersonville to Spring Hill but still offer a specialty in West and North Nashville.

Had we loved to hear about any fond memories you have from growing up?
I was always a pop culture junkie as a kid. It was easier than with only four channels to memorize the primetime schedule and Saturday cartoons. Maybe it began when my parents got me on Romper Room in Bowling Green, KY. I was determined to drive the milk truck on camera.
