Today we’d like to introduce you to Berkeley Clements. She shares her story with us below:

Born in Missoula, Montana, Berkeley Clements has always been deeply fascinated by the world around her. At a young age, she appreciated observing the beauty of life and the intricacies of relationships. Painfully shy, she often spent a lot of time in her room writing poetry, reading, and journaling.

At 11 years old, she was introduced to musical theatre and fell madly in love with it. She continued to develop her craft and eventually added photography, ceramics, and painting to her creative repertoire; these outlets allowed her to express herself in newfound ways. Clements has performed in venues small and large throughout her career. While living in Southern California, she was introduced to spirituality, Reiki, energy work, and metaphysical practices; she found these topics fascinating and later learned that spiritual gifts had been in her family for several generations. Driven by her curiosity and passion for exploration, Clements continues to delve into all aspects of life with an open mind and heart.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A few years ago, I hit a full-on brick wall with my health. It was really tough – we had just relocated from California, and I had just transitioned from working in a fast-paced high-stress corporate job. My body and brain were completely exhausted. I could sleep more than 10 hours a day, and wake up as though I’d hadn’t slept for months, it would only last for a few hours before the fatigue would start creeping back in. It was so frustrating because I knew something wasn’t right – but it felt hopeless because every time I tried to talk to my GP about how I was feeling, she would tell me that she wanted to help but feared that I wouldn’t get very far with an endocrinologist because my labs weren’t strong enough to clearly reflect what was going on.

Thankfully, after months of struggling on my own, I finally found a naturopathic doctor who helped me get to the bottom of what was going on. Through some tests and lots of patience (and admittedly some trial and error), we figured out that I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. It’s been a long road since then – but through learning about my condition and making some dietary changes, medication adjustments, etc., I’ve slowly started to regain control of my health. And now that my health is on the mend, one of the things that brings me the most joy is being able to help others who might be going through something similar by sharing what has worked for me. Ultimately, the only person who can advocate for your health is you. If something doesn’t feel right, trust yourself and find the right doctor who will help you to get to the bottom of it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an intuitive artist who creates art based on the observations of the world around me. I strive to create pieces of art that are an honest and authentic reflection of what I see, feel, or desire to manifest. Our world has forgotten the importance of creative expression, freedom, and playfulness – I hope that my creations will move people to reflect and be inspired to create themselves.
