Life & Work with Christina Dix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Dix.

Hi Christina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for photography started when I was a little girl. There was just something about clicking the button and seeing the end result that made me so excited!

The big joke around our family since I was little was, “you know Christina was in our photo albums if photos are missing.” I can just hear my dad saying this to me. I used to take the photos and obsess over them and the memory that the photo left behind. It’s funny, today, when I go through the very same photo albums and photos are missing, I hear my dad saying, “you know Christina was in our photo albums if photos are missing.” Haha.

Years later in 2012, I decided to get my very first DSLR camera. I thought for sure it would be just like my Sony Cybershot I always used. But I was terribly wrong! With lots of workshops and practice, I took on our first wedding in Key West, Florida in 2014. Shortly later, this very same wedding, the first wedding I’ve ever photographed, was published in Florida’s Beautiful Bride magazine.

My first wedding being published in a printed wedding magazine meant everything to me and then some. I am a firm believer that every happens for a reason. The very confused young adult, who had no idea what career to pursue, felt like I was finally starting to figure it out. It was one of the best feelings in the world.

Since our first wedding in 2014, and wedding packages start at merely $200 (I can’t make this up), we have now been booking black tie weddings in the most glamorous locations such as New York City, Santorini, Greece, and a private estate in New Hampshire.

With lots of hard work, lessons learned, setbacks, and comebacks, I’m so lucky to do what I love, meeting the most beautiful couples, and shooting at the dreamiest locations.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a wedding photographer hasn’t always been a smooth road.

When I first started photography in general, I photographed a little bit of everything and found it challenging to find the right client and price point.

It wasn’t until I decided to put all of my focus into wedding photography that everything would fall into place.

Putting all of my attention into one cup instead of a few different cups made all the difference.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m most proud of the endless amounts of relationships I create with all of my sweet couples! A huge backbone of my business is definitely the relationship and bond I create with them.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
My clients! If they aren’t happy, I don’t have a business.

Also, for myself, being happy. You only live once and life is so short. I feel so lucky to do what I love. Something that I’ve been passionate about since I was little, is photography.
